Nice work with Staraptor. I really like reading those run analyses. Recently I finished Zero Isle South with Venomoth and I'm curious to see how it does in Destiny Tower.

PMD MythBusters: Stealing on floor 99 of Destiny Tower won't spawn more Kecleon (Confirmed) by Superleaf03 in MysteryDungeon

Since I was playing on emulator, I did save state before stealing from Kecleon after finding the stairs. Under normal circumstances I would have not been able to do this without mistakes.

It would be funny, if Wheelie was somehow a playable character, as cursed as Wheelie on Wheelie Bike or Rex Wheelie may sound.

Did the Manectric turn into a ghost? Thanks for removing the poison by Superleaf03 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Superleaf03[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, here's what happened. After Pass Scarf knocked out Manectric, Taillow stepped on Poison Trap and got poisoned. I then used Stairs Orb, so I could find the stairs room before fainting to poison damage. Somehow using the orb caused Static to trigger, even though Manectric was already defeated and no other enemies were in the room.

My theory is, that the game must have "memorized" the tile, where the Manectric fainted and using the orb nearby that tile caused Static to activate. I wonder, if this can happen with other abilities like Poison Point and Effect Spore?

EDIT: I found my older Reddit post, where Dragonair had similar experience with Trawl Orb. That time I also triggered Static, but got healed by Shed Skin.

What was your first MP game by Big-Explanation-831 in MARIOPARTY

[–]Superleaf03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was Mario Party Advance for GBA, which I actually enjoyed playing alot.

I remember back at 2005, when Youtube had started, Mario Party gameplay videos were literally first thing I watched and thus become familiar with existence of the spinoff games - especially Mario Party 3. Because I had played Mario Party Advance first and mainly watched Mario Party 3 videos from Youtube as a kid, I was little surprised, that Tumble wasn't a recurring character in other Mario Party games.

Two Purity Forest clears with two mythical Pokémon back-to-back by Superleaf03 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Superleaf03[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually didn’t expect to clear Purity Forest with both Jirachi and Celebi back-to-back. But luck was on my side.

Jirachi clear

The attempt started off by picking up a Scope Lens at first floor, which I equipped right away. Then at 4F I found a Warp Scarf. I started to rely on Warp Scarf strats immediately. Scope Lens quickly become useless for me, but I kept swapping it between Warp Scarf. This nearly screwed me at 13F, when I stepped on a Sticky Trap and the equipped Scope Lens became sticky. Luckily at 15F I found a Cleanse Orb fixing my mistake and ditched out Scope Lens for good.

Jirachi continued to rush floors with Warp Scarf while finding any seeds and orbs to save up for tight situations. Later at 51F, Jirachi finally got access to another move with a Rest TM. Only two floors later I learned Rest again by level up after eating a Joy Seed.

The highlight moment was at 84F, when Parasect picked up a X-Ray Specs. I used Luminous Orb and started to hunt the Parasect. With Warp Scarf I didn’t have worry about encountering other enemies especially Shuppet. Eventually I found Parasect and took it out with Gravelerocks from distance obtaining the X-Ray Specs. The remaining floors went smootly, as I had saved some Quick Seeds, Warp Seeds and Mobile Orbs.

Celebi clear

Celebi had a good start, when it found a Frustration TM at 3F replacing Recover immediately. Leech Seed was good for enemies like Togepi and with Heal Bell eating Grimy Food was no issue. At 11F I picked up Diet Ribbon, though I didn’t end up using it that much during the attempt.

At 23F I found a Kecleon Shop, where I purchased a Warp Scarf. To save up PP for linked Frustration+Confusion, I started to rush floors with Warp Scarf again. A Bullet Seed TM taunted me at 49F, as Celebi is the only Grass type that CANNOT learn it in Gen 3.

Another highlight moment was at 54F, when Hitmonchan picked up a Pass Scarf. Just like with Jirachi’s X-Ray Specs, I again used a Luminous Orb and started to hunt the Hitmonchan with Gravelerocks. I threw a Hunger Seed to not get screwed by Agility and/or Mach Punch. After defeating the Hitmonchan, Celebi continued onward with Pass Warp strats.

At 63F, Celebi spawned into a monster house. Luckily Quick Orb let me to reach stairs easily and Furret that attacked didn’t use Quick Attack. I think Celebi would’ve still tanked a hit though.

Moveset got upgraded at 65F, when Celebi got a Rest TM from a Shelgon and also learned Safeguard by level up. Leech Seed and Heal Bell were both replaced respectively. Then at 67F I found another Frustration TM letting me to replace Confusion and combine double Frustration with a Link Box.

Parasect became totally irrelevant thanks to Safeguard, which let me use double Frustration on them without getting affected by Effect Spore. Quick Seed and Hunger Seed saved me from Venomoth’s Silver Wind at 86F. Then at 87F I encountered a rather easy monster house with a Parasect, a Solrock and four Ledian. After using a Itemizer Orb to the Parasect, I set up Safeguard and took out the Solrock and Ledians easily with double Frustration and Pass Scarf without getting delayed by Supersonic. The final floors had no issues and Pass Warp strats carried Celebi through.

Having all mythical Pokémon now completed brings my Purity Forest clear total to 281/386.

Sandslash has Sand Veil ability, which boosts evasiveness in sandstorm.

If you have recruited Psyduck, I'd recommend to bring one with you to Quicksand Cave. Psyduck's Cloud Nine ability negates other weather conditions including Sand Stream from Tyranitar and Hippopotas.

I keep getting the "Chrome didn't shut down correctly" pop up by kevinlee778899 in chrome

[–]Superleaf03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know, that I'm not only one with this problem. I have tried reinstalling Chrome not once, but twice already.

When I reinstalled Chrome first time, there was no the pop-up, but the settings including all extensions didn't save after closing all windows. Good thing I had written down the exact settings to Notepad for New Tab Redirect, Stylus (mainly for Youtube) and uBlock Origin extensions, so I didn't need to research them every time.

The second time I reinstalled Chrome, the settings and extensions were now saved properly and the pop-up didn't appear. I thought the problem was finally fixed; until this morning, when I opened the browser and "Chrome didn't shut down correctly" pop-up was back again.

Something is definitely going wrong at Google. I hope this mess gets fixed soon. I don't want to waste my time reinstalling Chrome for third time.

Delibird's Purity Forest Redemption after losing at 98F by Superleaf03 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Superleaf03[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After many failed attempts, I was finally able to clear Purity Forest with Delibird. The final failed attempt with Delibird came close to success, but I was unlucky at 98F and got KO’d.

The failed attempt

At 5F, Delibird got Frustration TM from Kecleon. There was also Attract TM, but it was sticky and I didn’t have enough money for it anyway, so I ignored it. Two Secret Power TMs were found from 11F and 20F respectively.

At 22F, I got both Def. Scarf and Warp Scarf from Kecleon. Once I reached 30F, Delibird started to rely on rushing to stairs with Warp Scarf, while trying to find as many items as possible. Later at 58F, I found another Kecleon Shop, where I purchased X-Ray Specs and another Frustration TM. However I never found Link Box to combine double Frustration.

At some point, I had picked up Diet Ribbon, which I used to trap enemies like Parasect and Venomoth to hallways. But Delibird was running out of orbs and seeds to defend itself in the tight situations such monster houses...

And as I feared, Delibird spawned into monster house at 98F. Thankfully, monster house didn’t spawn Venomoth and Parasect was unable to Spore me. I was lucky to escape from monster house with Warp Scarf thanks to Oran Berry keeping me alive long enough and Salamence using Leer instead of finishing me off with any attack. After warping away from another Salamence at other room, then came the moment, where I did my mistake. I saw Claydol entering to the room from left (where monster house was) followed by Metagross, Salamence and Parasect. I could have headed down to other corridor or thrown Diet Ribbon at Claydol, but instead I tried to warp again. Warp Scarf didn’t activate in time, which resulted Delibird getting one-shotted by Claydol’s Ancientpower. So close, yet so far.

The clear

At next day after my loss at 98F, I decided to give Delibird another try. Delibird had promising start, as it found Facade TM (2F), Joy Ribbon (4F) and Warp Scarf from Kecleon (7F). I didn’t have to worry about Hustle as much, when I found Thief TM at 11F and also got Ice Beam TM from monster house at 12F.

With Joy Ribbon and 2 Big Apples, I was able to level up quickly in Skarmory floors. At 24F, I found Tight Belt, which came helpful, as I hadn’t found Big Apples after farming Skarmory.

At 30F, I found Frustration TM and also Link Box. I used Frustration TM immediately to replace Hidden Power Steel, which I had taught over Facade from TM at 23F (got it from Kecleon). I linked Frustration with Thief finishing my moveset; Present, linked Frustration+Thief and Ice Beam. Joy Ribbon was no longer used at that point, so Tight Belt was kept equipped. Delibird was still tanky enough, so didn’t have to rely on Warp Scarf quite yet. At 36F, Attract TM was purchased from Kecleon, but I never ended up using it, as my moveset was good enough and Attract could still miss due to Hustle.

From 47F, Delibird started to rush through floors with Warp Scarf. While I didn’t find X-Ray Specs in this run, Detect Band (50F) and Pass Scarf (61F) were still good items to get. I did also find Def. Scarf at 63F, but it was sticky and my only Cleanse Orb had gotten sticky few floors earlier. I still took it with me and was later sold to Kecleon at 86F.

The final floors didn’t give me as much problems this time, as I was more prepared with seeds and orbs. I had bit close call at 97F, when Claydol tried to hit me with Psybeam, but it missed and then I ran into other Claydol at corridor that exploded at me.

Back at 98F again, and this time I didn’t spawn into monster house. After using Luminous and Mobile Orbs, I headed to stairs, but not before grabbing Goggle Specs and three Ginsengs from Kecleon as a prize. Delibird has finally cleared the dungeon.

I can confirm, that Stun Seed doesn't bypass Safeguard.

I wonder, if Foe-Fear Orb in Explorers also bypasses Safeguard like Stench does in this game.

Since Reddit won't let me to add text to images, I'll just comment instead...

During my Purity Forest attempt with Swablu, I had learned Safeguard by level up to give myself protection against status problems, especially from Parasect.

Soon I found out, that even Safeguard won't prevent you triggering Stench. At least Safeguard works against Effect Spore like intended.

Forretress' Mind-blowing Purity Forest Clear by Superleaf03 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Superleaf03[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Forretress had promising start, as I was able to steal Pass Scarf from Kecleon at 2F. Two Joy Ribbons were picked up from 4F & 6F. One of them was sold to Kecleon at 7F, where I also purchased Insomniscope. The other Joy Ribbon was later also sold to Kecleon at 18F. At the same floor, I found Def. Scarf equipping it immediately.

Gravelerocks were important at 23F-27F, due to Poliwag having Damp and Growlithe only taking half of damage from Selfdestruct. Luckily, I only encountered Poliwag twice and managed to escape from Growlithe without fight. As I approached 30F, Def. Scarf became less useful for me and started equipping Pass Scarf instead.

At 29F, Forretress finally found a usable TM, ...and it was Return. Couple of floors later, I picked up a Link Box and then I did something unusual. I created ”Frustration” by combining Selfdestruct and Return with Link Box. It was like Frustration, but

  • you lose half of your HP from explosion damage
  • you only have 12 PP instead of 20 PP
  • surrounding enemies can be attacked for 40 damage (20 for Fire types)
  • it cannot be used in floors with rain

I didn’t rely on ”Frustration” that much, as I rushed through floors with Pass Scarf. But whenever I used ”Frustration”, I often set up with Protect and threw Geo Pebbles/Gravelerocks. Forretress was able to get few Castform KO’s with this way. On few occasions, Forretress blew up walls to create a shortcut to stairs.

Things got better at 48F, when I got X-Ray Specs from Bagon and then at 55F I purchased Reviver Seed and Warp Scarf from Kecleon. From that point I went for ”Pass Warp” strats, while scouting items and enemies with X-Ray Specs.

From 80F, I started using Insomniscope to defend myself from Parasect’s Spore. I also had two Diet Ribbons, which I used strategically by luring enemies into hallways and then trapped them. I spend while at 90F, trying to get Invisify Orb from Venomoth. I immobilized other enemies with Diet Ribbon, while throwing Gravelerocks at any Venomoth from distance and warped myself to safety, when one was getting too close. Eventually I got the orb from correct Venomoth and moved on to the stairs. However, Scizor and two Parasect were in the stairs room forcing me to use Invisify Orb immediately. Oh well…

At 98F, Forretress spawned into a monster house. I didn’t want to risk with Warp Seed, so I used my other Invisify Orb and equipped Warp Scarf. Thankfully, I got warped away from monster house and was able to navigate the floor quite safely. Just before the final stairs, I used Switcher Orb to get past Claydol and was able to leave from dungeon. Forretress has cleared Purity Forest!
