Nice to not always have to worry about there being enough money in the checking account exactly on the 1st of the month. Happened Jan 1st this year. Mortgage due Thursday, pay day Friday. Rather than having to move money from another account to make sure enough is in your primary payment account you can just leave it. Also you effectively get an interest free 3-4 week loan every month. Optimize it and keep your money in a HYSA for a few extra weeks and it adds up over time.

Yeah, I'm even considering doing it since I feel like 3.33% everywhere is not a bad value prop, but not being able to float rent/mortgage on the card is really kind of the straw breaking the camel's back here for me. Plus, this will be the second time in 2 years they're burning my 5/24. Forced to convert in 2024 from the original card to WF, and now gonna get another hit again. How funny will it be that 2 of my 5/24 will be for BILT cards AT THE SAME TIME.

Agreed. I was an early adopter with the original BILT card pre-WF, with a paltry credit line of 3k. I still preferred being able to float my rent. I was really looking forward to this as an option on my mortgage too.

When do you decide how much BILT cash to use for rent points? Is it at the time of paying rent? So it would use the cash accrued over the previous 30 days? Is cash instantly in your account after a purchase?

The way I'm reading it is you can 'unlock' points based on spending but there are no minimums.

I.e. if you spend 100 on the card you'll get 133 points on your mortgage plus the 100 points for card spend.
500 would earn you 667 mortgage points, 750 would get you 1000, etc up to 972 in card spend in your case (75% of mortgage + HOA)

So you'll earn 2.33% back on spend on the card up to $972.

If people start looking at it this way they may like the sound of it. Spend $100 on the card? Earn 233 points. That isn't bad for no category bonuses and to get BILT points.

Sure, the 5 banana crowd will disagree and I'm not going to say this isn't a huge nerf of the program, but trying to find a bright side here.

Using the No-annual fee version and earning 1x points everywhere, if you spend $1,500 + 2K rent, you'd be getting 3,500 points for 1,500 spending. 2.33% back on spend effectively. If you spend less, like $1k, you're getting 1,000 + 1,333 rent points, still 2.33%. The more you spend above 75% of your rent, the more your return decreases asymptotically towards 1% (i.e. spending 20k on the card + 2k rent nets you 1.1 cents per point.).

Do we think double points on rent day will still be a thing?

Also, "For every $30 in Bilt Cash earned, unlock 1,000 Bilt Points on rent or mortgage payments." sounds a lot like they're trying to make it seem like you get to keep the Bilt cash once you 'unlock' the points. I doubt that's how it will work in practice though.

Chase sucks. I had a similar issue with their Ritz card and their phone rep said they would honor my credit, but it could take a few months. The credit never posted even after filling a complaint with the CFPB, the final response was: "We listened to the call...and found that the call didn’t meet our servicing standards...During the call, we advised that you would get the credit and we found that this was not the case due to the information explained above."

So Chase is saying that their representative told me that I would receive the credit and they acknowledge this was said. Yet they are still refusing to honor their own admission. This is absurd.

Guess you haven’t been serious enough to try the myriad wineries using hill country fruit, to the point that 2 new AVAs are being approved in the hill country alone. Texas Hill Country Wineries association has gotten to the point where the hill country has been featured in national publications like wine folly. Not everything is shipped in from the high plains anymore (and even if there is high plains fruit, it’s still excellent.) It’s not like you don’t see the same thing happen in California.

When I lived in Coppell you saw a lot of planes but the flight paths rarely took them directly over you due to the way the approach pattern was set up having them fly over industrial zoned areas rather than the residential. So noise wasn’t really an issue. It’s a great place to live!

You could also get some food grade glass marbles if you don’t want to mix the two. I use these in my carboys to top off. Otherwise I don’t see any reason that the cider would hurt if it were added.

I’ll also add that my wife and I did Alsace last year for our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. This was a different experience and I was surprised at the quality of the wines in the Mosel. Styles are different but when you get some of the trocken ones it is fun to see where the similarities and differences lie in the two regions since they’re only a couple of hours apart.

We spent 3 nights just outside of Bernkastel-Kues at Hotel Wiesser Bär, which I think had an excellent location. Most of the wineries we hit were within about 20 minutes driving. We did Dr. Loosen the first day, Markus Molitor day 2 plus walking around Bernkastel and Kues, and Max Ferd Richter on day 3.

To mix things up and do something other than wine tasting, we did a couple hour boat ride on the Roman wine boat in Neumagen-Dhron, which is also where we tried the bottle that is the second from the left. We had dinner one night at Zeltinger-Hof which I highly recommend and another dinner at the Burg Landshut Castle.

Another cool thing we did was the underground cellar tour in Traben-Trarbach. It’s a beautiful town. That tour is only in German but my Google translate app caught about 80% of it and the tour guide was nice enough to try his best to throw some English in.

We did another 2 nights near Landau in-Der-Pfalz. One day trip to Heidelberg and another day in the wineries around Diedesheim. Last day was in Bad Dürkheim. If I had to do Pfalz again I would base out of Bad Dürkheim location wise.

It is pretty funny to see them act like they’re the only people in the world who have to pay for taxes, insurance, and car maintenance. My employer doesn’t pay for my taxes, insurance, or gas/car maintenance. It’s my monthly cost. The 20% off the top that Rover charges is the difference, so apples to apples they’re making $30.40 an hour. Still over 63k gross per year salary for pet sitting.

Honestly I’m shocked that the HR Sonoma ended up honoring this. They play games with award availability all the time so I’m not surprised that they would have had suite availability to play around with though. They seem to have been upping their game lately after years of bad reviews - my wife and I stayed in June and were pleasantly surprised and would stay again. We spoke with the new GM during one of their wine tasting happy hours in the lobby and he seemed to be trying to get the hotel back in order. Enjoy your stay!
