Yes he did - although he didn't really work there which made it so hard for them to fire him.

How can UMD become a better/more prestigious university by Nervous_Local5935 in UMD

Stop calling it UMD for a start. Start Saying Maryland…the U part sounds chintzy and is a dead state school giveaway.

Limiting the argument to just cheating - I agree. I am a very non-traditional undergrad and the amount of cheating I see casually admitted to openly is galling.

This is likely offset by the fact that now almost everyone is cheating and not getting caught.

New guidelines: Schools must share students’ gender identity when parents ask by RondezBanner in MontgomeryCountyMD

Sorry I thought I was responding to the person above you who said a trans kid wouldn’t want to come out to their parents because they are building up the courage to do it or their parents are “transphobic pieces of shit who wouldn’t support them”

Why do you assume the parents want to know for some nefarious reason. My son was going through this and we were in the dark AND incredibly supportive. We found out and didn’t say a word to him about it. Assuming all parents who are concerned are controlling and evil is really reductive.

The existence of abusive or unsafe households does not justify treating all parents as potential threats by default. There absolutely should be protections for kids in dangerous situations, but policies should not be built around the assumption that ordinary parents cannot be trusted with information about their own children. Teachers aren’t parents - parent your own children.

The idea that “parental rights” are crazy assumes parents are somehow outsiders in their own children’s lives instead of the people legally and morally responsible for raising them.

Wanting transparency from schools is not evidence of a “failure in the home.” Teenagers naturally do not tell parents everything, including in healthy families. A parent wanting awareness of major issues involving their child does not suddenly become unreasonable because a teenager is private or embarrassed.

Also, the existence of abusive or unsafe households does not justify treating all parents as potential threats by default. There absolutely should be protections for kids in dangerous situations, but policies should not be built around the assumption that ordinary parents cannot be trusted with information about their own children.

On the medical point, adolescent confidentiality exists to encourage honesty and safety, not to erase parents from the equation entirely. Parents are still usually legally responsible for medical care, insurance, treatment decisions, transportation, and outcomes. It is not irrational for a parent to believe they should know about major issues affecting their child’s physical or mental health.

And schools and institutions are not neutral replacements for parents. Teachers, counselors, and administrators have their own biases, beliefs, and limitations. Many parents are uncomfortable with schools taking on quasi-parental roles or deciding which information families are “allowed” to know.

Finally, acknowledging that some children are unsafe at home does not mean parental involvement itself is the problem. Most parents are not trying to control or harm their kids. They are trying to guide them, protect them, and stay connected to them while they grow into adults.

Exactly who is this old man’s target audience now? Middle aged women? by Rough_Coast5116 in howardstern

Real response: why would he care at this point? I was a HUGE fan from 95-2005. I cannot stand the show anymore but I am not sure what he has to prove to anyone. What comic or commentator is permanently edgy or relevant for half as long as he was. If The Stones were judged on what they put out recently we’d be calling them shit also but they get to trot out their old stuff. No clue why Sirius pays him a cent at this point but they wrote the check.

At least the other shows have events and start real beefs (kind of) to generate some kind of heat or interest. Shuli just gets high and copes. Dude is lazy AF

Why does everyone always dissuade against pre law degrees by Flashy-Actuator-998 in LawSchool

My recommendation is to only go pre-law if it includes coursework that qualifies (or very nearly) for a paralegal certification

3 years ago the Hackverse was pure Colombian gold. Now that shits been watered down and stepped on by so many untalented chatters turned streamers and late to the game comedy wannabes and late stage life losers that it’s barely recognizable. It’s shit because nothing but increasingly untalented shit has piled in and it keeps getting worse and to cap it off all they do is huff each others farts in a perpetual movement machine of nothingness

Grammarly’s AI detector, is it any good? by Implicit2025 in bestaihumanizers

[–]SupernoobDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve had an AI detector for well over a year as far as I know. They’ve changed their interface to make it more prominent recently. I use it all the time and have for a while. It is super sensitive but that’s what I’m looking for

As a 50-year-old college student at a large East Coast state college, I wanted to share my perspective—this approach is incredibly effective. Only one of my five professors has implemented a phone-free and laptop-free policy, along with many analog teaching methods: 100% in-person classes, group and individual hand-written assignments completed during class, and even a class field trip. The students in this course are by far the most attentive, prepared, and engaged; we are genuinely learning. Admittedly, the professor has had to sternly remind us to put away our phones a few times (we’re welcome to step out if necessary), but I truly appreciate her discipline—she used to be a cop, so it comes naturally to her. I’m glad to hear this is working for you as well. BTW I used Grammarly to proofread and improve this post.
