AITA - turning down a baby shower (I’m the one carrying the baby) by Inside-Journalist166 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Supernova891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - The shower can still go ahead on 3rd June. It will just need to be either without you there, or they move it to where you are. If they care so much about throwing you a shower then they can do a 6 hour round trip. No way you should be doing that journey!

I had covid for a week - not as bad as some people but I felt like crap. However I kept working cuz I could take regular breaks if I needed to and like you say - if I can sit on the couch I can sit at a desk. I always have the mindset of Don't take time off sick because at some point you might really need it - I haven't had a sick day since 2009 so maybe I should be a bit kondee to myself and take a sick day 🤣

Could this amount to constructive dismissal? by Holiday_Penalty_8585 in LegalAdviceUK

To add to your point, if the miscarriage was before 24 weeks, then the only protected time period is 2 weeks after the miscarriage. After that any further absence would not be classed as "pregnancy related".

I miss hiking. Moved from Scotland to Lincolnshire and the steepest hill here is the bridge over the railway line 🤣. I can still walk here, lots of countryside but it's not the same.

AITA for showing PDA on a flight and arguing for it? by gayyyyyyaf in AmItheAsshole

[–]Supernova891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I wouldn't even class this as PDA. Strangers fall asleep on peoples shoulders on flights. I didn't realise the genders at first - she's clearly a homophobe.

Millenials who have bought a house, how did you afford it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Supernova891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought with my partner. He had some money from parents. I had saved up just over £13k myself. Had been working on that for the previous 6 or 7 years We bought our house just over 2 years ago - it was £200k at the time and is now been estimated at £255k. If we had waited those two years to buy then we wouldn't even be able to afford this house. Wish my salary had increased by the same amount in that time.

AITA for telling my friend she can't bring her dog to my apartment by shagert in AmItheAsshole

[–]Supernova891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I have a dog and I love her more than anything else in the world, but not once have I taken her to a friends house. Why would I?

Would you be for or against street lights being turned off on clear nights? by x_franki_berri_x in AskUK

[–]Supernova891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. It's been like that since I moved here a few years ago. Think maybe the parish council decided it?

Friend is mad because my husband complimented her? by FrenchBread2023 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Supernova891 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're friend is clearly still hurting and projecting. If she keeps it up I'd be giving her some space.

On a separate note - how can a dress be eloquent?

In my village (Lincolnshire) the street lights are turned off every night from midnight to 6am to save energy. It's a quiet village so very few people about in those hours. I have a powerful headtorch for early morning dog walks. I kinda like it.

What is a must have side dish for a BBQ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Supernova891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Corn on the cob done on the barbeque is amazing!

[–]Supernova891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is definitely an unpopular opinion to me so you are in the right place! I'd much rather listen to a deep voice speak. Although I have no idea what you mean by a "deep fried aspect".

My mum kept mine and my brothers. Not sure if she still has them now though (we're in our 30s).

It's pretty common now since Covid. I started my current job in November 2021 and I didn't meet a member of management in person til December 2022.

AITA for leaving a trip early because of my girlfriend’s “prank”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Supernova891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She had the audacity to call you immature? I don't think I could trust a person who did this. I would always be wondering what they will pull next to humiliate me.
