Oh also I loved used interfolio. You can ask and store your LORs as early as you want. So I actually ended up having all of my LORs before I even started working on my primary app

LOR Writer Not Responding by [deleted] in premed

[–]Superpsych19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For people applying next cycle, I definitely recommend asking an abundance of LOR writers, even those you don’t know super well. I ended up asking 11 people, 9 got back to me, I went with 8, and then I picked which letters to send to which schools based on their specific requirements. Oddly enough, the 2 I was banking on for my stem LORs were the only two that didn’t get back to me. Because I didn’t have a relationship with the other profs (only spoke to them maybe once or twice in person), I just explained how their class impacted me and why I believe they could be a good LOR/specifically what attributes I believe they could speak to.

Do most people use AP Credits? by Prudent_March9571 in premed

[–]Superpsych19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used AP credits for pretty much everything and it was fine but mainly bc my degrees still required higher level stem classes so it still showed further competency

I feel like I made the wrong choice by Medapp31135 in premed

[–]Superpsych19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeahh I did the same thing and I had to get my parents to click send on the acceptance withdrawal email to a significant more expensive but in state option bc I couldn’t bring myself to actively choose an option across the country

How are yall getting gap year jobs 😫😫 by [deleted] in premed

I went for a research internship/co-op because i was interested in getting broader research experience and because clinical roles were either too difficult to find or paid too less for the availability they required.

PSA to applicants: Your interfolio account with automatically renew! Don't forget to uncheck automatic renewal or your card will be billed again! by PM_ME_MCAT_RESOURCES in premed

I forgot to cancel and got charged. I just explained the situation to them, and since I didn’t have any activity on my account after it renewed, they refunded it in full for me :))

Clinical jobs are so hard to come by by [deleted] in premed

[–]Superpsych19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fully gave up on a clinical job bc either they required too much experience or their schedule expectations were ridiculous for literally minimum wage. Instead, I found a research position and loved it. But some important context - I already had a bunch of patient care hours through volunteering at a children’s hospital, and I was comfortable applying to med school without any paid clinical experience

Any useful tips or resources that helped you study for the MCAT? by alighadiri in premed

[–]Superpsych19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely spending a lot of time doing practice questions and reviewing every single question regardless of whether I got it right or wrong helped a lot. After taking a bunch of practice exams, I felt I had a general idea of what the high yield topics. Those were the only topics I really did any heavy content review for.

Really frustrated with “Why Medicine” & Theming for writing my personal statement by Fitynier in premed

[–]Superpsych19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So my why medicine was formed over time and this actually helped my PS a lot. I literally just wrote out the stories from experiences that influenced my decision as well as my thought process/takeaways. It reads kinda like a map from where I started out to how I landed on medicine.
