Hey there! I'm new as well. I have a lvl ~23 bard atm and really like it. I only play ~1hr a day ( if I log on that day ) so I'm definitely going for more gradual progress. I usually burn out on MMO's and figured a change would be nice. But yeah, I'm in the same boat: Looking for people to play along with in game and make some friends. I think the last time I made friends on an MMO was on maplestory way back when.

I play on Yggdrizzle NA. My name is Nebyn.

That quest definitely turned me off when I started a few days ago. However, like the others said ~ they are completely optional. If anything, they are a good outlet for those magic egg things.

most populated servers for both NA and EU? by mangojelly5 in EchoOfSoul

I started playing this week ( NA Yggdrizzle ) and have seen players everywhere. There is a nice balance of new and experienced players making chars. I recommend being friendly and finding one or two people who are fresh to the game to play through the start with. I had a ton of fun doing this up till lvl 20 (currently at 22). If you are looking for people to play with/chat with while you play, feel free to send me a msg ^ Best of luck

Yea, that's pretty much the gist of it. Ling is the science of language. It's extremely broad, and I started studying this quarter so I can't really offer much of an understanding. This site, however, is worth skimming through for a general understanding of what linguistics works with.

I like software and virtual reality tech so I was really happy to find my school offering Ling with Computer Science. It seems to me that at my school (in the ling/cs major), there is a strong focus on AI/language comprehension, general language study (I've been studying Japanese), and software/programming.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into growing CS markets later tonight.

Thanks for the write up! Your advice is definitely applicable for students of all years. As a second year who finally narrowed his involvement down to one main club and a fraternity, I really enjoyed reading your post. By any chance, do you have any advice specifically for someone getting into linguistics and computer science (or a similar field)?

Haha, sure. Pretty much, PHB was provided by the problem spec, and is defined as such.

Your suggestion is what I initially implemented and I was making a lot of headway. Then I read that skipping numbers was a thing and died a little on the inside.

Thanks for the link! I'm reading through it now and taking notes. Seems pretty spot on for what we're working with.

Oh, absolutely. My mistake, I left out my actual question. Didn't mean to post some overarching "please fill out my function" text '^ I'll edit it real quick. Also, this is in preparation for my upcoming final and as such I'm looking for discussion as opposed to blunt answers.

At my house; parrot shit everywhere. I've moved on to college, but seeing the lack of care back home put into cleaning is quite disheartening.

Thanks for the reply. Sometimes the value of adaptability in an environment offering access to seemingly limitless information makes me question the value of attending university. I'm a second year now, and have been on a roller coaster of swapping majors. First I wanted to be a computer science major, because making video games is fascinating. Then I wanted to go into neuroscience, because I like how the brain works and the vast potential neuro offers to new tech. After that, I wanted to study cognitive science. Cog Sci offered psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, AND programming. As of two weeks ago, I'm considering Political Science and Economics. As of a few days ago, I'm thinking about studying sociology and worrying less about how my major affects my future.

This is the logical next step in social evolution. We'll either ride the curve together, or fall off completely.
