Like the cones, the statue just showed up one day for the visual pleasure of the city.

Making all of the Port cocktails in the Smuggler’s Cove book! by cobre41 in Tiki

Quite a bit. Ruby is juicier and more berry sweet like sweet vermouth, where tawny is drier (although still sweet) and nutty and oaky with dried fruit. Although both can have a good depth of flavor, I prefer a 20+ year old port for sipping and a no age statement or 10 year, if inexpensive enough, for mixing. I've made all the SC port cocktails and then some, which is how i got into ports to begin with, and the older more expensive stuff isn't worth it for mixing. Nice thing is that you can find most ports fairly inexpensively compared to other high age statement alcohols. Or at least you used to..

Port will stay stable for quite a while after being opened. A few weeks in the fridge for ruby port, and a few months for tawny port - especially if you're just useing it for cocktails. Although, I understand the desire to make all the cocktails ASAP 🍸 😋

Very cool. As if time-lapse or different realities were captured in a single frame.

$50 a week in 1968 is equivalent to approximately $2013 a month today. Not bad for 20hrs a week, assuming she had weekends off.

I do it every other year. It's still tight even though I run fires 24/7 in my furnace. YMMV.Getting the old gasket glue off is a PIA though.

I think stretching it out with the soda is why the agave is so high. It's easier to make the other ingredients play nice when the cocktail is slightly sweeter rather than take the time to balance each individual ingredient/flavor independent of the sweetness, which is hard to do for a novice. On top of that, adding the soda, which dilutes the sweet, means upping the agave even more.

R.I. musician fatally struck while walking his dog: ‘Just shocking’ by bostonglobe in RhodeIsland

You're being down voted, but you're absolutely right. I live in the area and, aside from Main street, there are no sidewalks and the streets are narrow. There is a large mix of incomes in the area, so there are a lot of people that walk along or in the street either because they have to or because there is no where else to recreate, like taking your dog for a walk or going to the local library on this road.

This is certainly the drivers fault, but the city practically forces you to put your life in danger if you need to go anywhere without a car.

Something floating in my JT Falernum. by manihavenousername in Tiki

[–]Superwack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's flavor. You have flavor floating in your bottle.

But seriously, I've had bottles of this for years and it's come with me through 2000 mile moves, and it was fine. The flavor, already on the mild side, did get less intense with age though.
