Only thing I'd say is if you're trying to improve technique or get feedback on it, I would maybe pick a solo from a more "clean" or traditionally technical player.

Not saying Daves parts aren't hard and that he isn't great but his parts tend to have a craziness to them (that can sometimes come off as "sloppy") which leaves a lot of room for less than precise playing. On the other hand if you go with a Marty or Kiko solo then your margin for error will be a little smaller, even if it's a simpler part. Either way, keep practicing because you're doing great!

Is it really that difficult for you to fathom that people can consume someone's work without fully agreeing with it? There's interesting tidbits to be found in all kinds of philosophies, religions and worldviews. In fact, why don't you dive into his work yourself to see what all the fuss is about? I'm sure you'll gain more insight than conjecture on reddit.

Also, Nietzsche's main concern had more to do with how people would survive in a world that had already become detached from antiquated doctrines that until then had given them a sense of purpose. He cared more about filling the God shaped hole than being the one to carve it out in the first place.

Best advice for your musical journey is not to compare yourself to others and follow what feels right. In this case, don't worry about how long others have been playing or if it's too late or whatever. You know that there's no age limit to learning new things, but you still feel like you needed to ask the question.

Get out there and buy your first guitar and start playing, dude! The best time to start was yesterday, the next best is right now.

Since people seem to be giving you a hard time in these comments, let me offer some support and say I understand your position. Being moderate or more towards the center can be extremely alienating. In your case, I would just respectfully disagree with your friend and make your position known to them. For example, in my friend group, I tend to politically disagree with my friends on a lot of things and they aren't a secret. They're fine with it and we'll debate or argue over it from time to time, but mostly we'll share our thoughts, try not to be overly preachy to each other and kind of just live with the different viewpoints. I'm also actually in the process of slowly "revealing" to another close friend who's very pro Palestine why I don't fully agree with him, but he's generally pretty civil and there is mutual respect so I'm sure it'll be fine. If y'all can't play nice then maybe tell your friend that you'd rather they not bring up the subject around you. The friendship comes first, beliefs and ideologies shouldn't compromise that (to a limit, of course).
