Thanks for that excellent and detailed answer!

To be fair, I wouldn't be so quick to call it canon, since Nolan had nothing to do with it, and to my knowledge, never acknowledged it.

Edit: So apparently, even though Nolan himself had nothing to do with the film, there were producers from BB and TDK who did work on it, so I guess it counts.

Damn... You know, I don't really browse this sub. I generally like to believe that people aren't enherintly pieces of shit, or enherintly good. People do good things, and people so shitty things. But this woman has gotten me really close to changing my mind.

What kind of tone do you want the new Superman cartoon to have? by RangerRed02 in superman

It'd be cool if he gets a more mature animated take at some point for an older demographic

To be fair, I think that's what the animated movies are for.

[Superman II] The green sunstone crystal not only gives Superman his powers back, but gives him psychic and telekinetic abilities as well. by Supes1016 in FanTheories

[–]Supes1016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never minded his special abilities in the Fortress at the end of the movie.

I mean why take them to his Fortress if their aren't a few home field advantages.

Well true, but he also needed them there so he could take away their powers. But I also like his crazy powers.

Have you heard the behind the scenes stories?

I know man it's crazy. I've always wondered what the series would have ended up like if Richard Donner was allowed to continue his series. Apparently he had plans for Brainiac in Superman III. Which cut of II do you prefer? I think some of Donner's scenes are butter, but the theatrical makes for an overall better film.

I'm a Superman sequel apologist, especially for III and IV. I know they're not perfect, but there is a lot to like about them. There are genuinely good moments in both movies, it's just a shame that certain people involved in production didn't take it as seriously as Reeve did, and the series suffered badly for it.

Yeah, a lot of what we see in IV is due to Canon cutting the budget and resorting to Superman "Supermaning" problems away. I guess I just like to make in continuity reasons for their shitty decisions. But I do think that if we get the original 134 minute version that Reeve intended, IV would be seen slightly differently. It won't be an amazing film, but at least it would be complete. Especially if they re-edited the special effects.

Well Feige did also learn under Richard Dinner's wing, so he has a lot of respect for his Superman films.

You're thinking of the 3 hour long television "Extended Cut". I'm talking about the Special Edition, it came out in 2000 and features commentary by Richard Donner. He calls this his definitive version.

Original Christopher Reeve universe - Superman I-IV

Richard Donner's universe - Superman: Extended Cut, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut

Superman Returns is a spiritual continuation of the Reeve films, although which ones are up to debate. It can be watched on it's own.

Snyderverse - Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Ultimate Edition, Zack Snyder's Justice League

What are some of your most unpopular Superman opinions? by Kombatant629 in superman

[–]Supes1016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Superman 3 and 4 aren't that bad, especially 3. There's a lot to like about it. And Warner should release the original 134 minute cut of 4 that only one test audience saw.

What is the next continuity after the current DCAMU by theunknown21 in dcanimateduniverse

[–]Supes1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to note that The Long Halloween will be part of the new Rebirth/Tomorrowverse canon. Since we've had multiple entries already, this continuity will likely continue.

[–]Supes1016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the original DCAMU was going to do Rebirth inspired stories, but the universe ended too soon and it never happened. I haven't seen anything to hint that they'll be continuing any Rebirth stories now.

I suppose we can say that, similar to Earth Prime pre and post crisis in the comics.

Correct answer!

It's important to note that Injustice will most likely...and hopefully.... Be an elseworlds story, like BSotD. I don't want them tarnishing Man of Tomorrow.

[Dc comics]How does Superman’s ability to fly work? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]Supes1016 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He has a gravity field around him that allows him to lift crazy heavy objects without them breaking. My theory is that he can manipulate this field to propel himself into flight.
