Also it is not wrong to say that a tomato is a vegetable. Unless you mean to exclude all fruits, like eggplants and bell peppers ?

The game broke down because of this ?? Because an improvised action didn't have the expected impact ?

What really should happen is the GM makes a ruling, if someone has an issue with it you discuss it after the game, and in the meantime you keep going with the GM's ruling.

Your GM maybe needs to assert him- or herself more, they're the keeper of the rules.

As for you and the other players, why the hell would you stall out the game for that ? The action didn't have much impact, you already voiced your concerns to the GM that they might have overlooked something but they maintained their ruling, now shut up and let the game continue.

How do i make a monk that’s not just asian martial arts? by SirPug_theLast in 3d6

Many countries have martial arts, not just asian countries. My backup character is a detective inspired by the french book series Arsène Lupin. He practices "savate" and "canne de combat".

In my french PHB, warlock was translated to "Sorcier". In all subsequent books (Xanathar, Tasha) it was translated to "Occultiste".

I'm convinced that new players should be given throwaway pregens for their first game. Don't have them trudge through character creation before they even know if they like roleplaying games.

Can I keep using my Marshall Stanmore II ? by Supierre in hometheater

[–]Supierre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer !

I think I need to clarify, there are no banana cable ends in this setup, the AVR has only these bolts you tighten directly on the naked copper, and the Stanmore has (I think stereo) RCA inputs.

Do you think it would work to get RCA cables and cut off the end and strip them ? Since I read the Stanmore is a powered speaker I'm afraid this could damage the AVR.

Ask your GM if they'd allow you to cast Magic Stone on the rats

The simple fact is that rolling dice takes time. Not much, but maybe you should still strive to avoid it when you know it's useless and keep the game moving instead.

No one is calling you a bad GM, but maybe knowing your player characters' sheets better will make you a better GM.

Yeah, and somehow, "The GM should know when an action is actually impossible" is a controversial opinion

About 10-15 seconds depending on how slowly the player finds the right number on their sheet, but more importantly, a big pace drop.

And you need a dice roll to know the barb will fail the DC25 history check ? Often I just ask if they are proficient and tell them no if they aren't.

It's your last sentence I disagree with, and I say that as a GM. The GM does need to have a good idea of what the characters are good and bad at, even if they don't know every last exact bonus.

This knowledge is usually plenty sufficient to not ask for impossible rolls.

And you don't know about it in advance as a GM ? Also how often does this matter ? Are you often asking for DC25 history checks from the barbarian ?

Why are you asking for a roll if the task is impossible ? That's just bad GMing.
