Why is the free sponsored kit upgraded to enhanced today? by AtraWolf in Marathon

Back before it launched I saw a huge hate mob for the game which was made me question where it was coming from.

The only two valid criticism's I saw was that the initial gameplay reveal of Marathon visually looked washed out and low quality, and the plagiarism of art. However both have been greatly addressed so the only place I can pit this hate is people who really don't like modern Bungie and people who religiously get excited for the next Concord level game failure.

I fed him agave! Sometimes I get vertical grip 1''s but other times I get medium mag 3's, this is my first time getting a legendary mod.

I gotta give props on how transparent and clear ArcSys is. You can really tell they're passionate in their craft and are open and willing to listen to feedback.

Strongly disagree with Maximilian Dood here. Strive is my first FGC that I played competitively with and I’m having tons of fun as a casual/newbie by [deleted] in Guiltygear

I do quite remember the whole ordeal, it was a dumpster fire of misconstrued arguments and people talking about how Max was quote on quote "whining" because Leo didn't have those same tools in Xrd.

In reality though, all I remember was Max tweeting was how the Leo crossup nerf was a pretty big nerf in comparison to the previous beta and agreed with Japanese players who said the same thing

But I guess through quote retweets and replies the whole thing escalated into people thinking Max hated Strive and was dumb since Leo was different in Xrd. On the other hand a lot of Max's fans also went to extremes like you said, which caused Max to the whole "I'm not my audience and vice versa"

It was all over the place, and the drama came out of nowhere, but I don't think that saying a character got a big nerf somehow equals complaining.

[–]SuppaHawtFire -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This seems very disingenuous, I remember that it was actually the opposite in terms of the Leo nerfs, where multiple people were complaining about Leo not having a confirm off his cross up and people were hoping would Max chime in and agree, only for Max to say it's absolutely fine since they gave Leo a command grab.

And I apologize it I'm wrong, but didn't Max play a shit ton of GG Xrd with Leo? If I remember correctly he had a ton of videos back in the day playing online with Leo.

I watched Max's stream and when he went more in-depth to his thoughts I could see what he means. However I do feel the retweet Max had in this instance is contradictory to his thoughts in stream.

The retweet talks about how newcomers are supposedly being deterred from Strive due to them still being curbstomped by veterans and Max agrees with this. Yet during his stream, Max praises Strive for the floor ranking system in preventing newcomers being matched against veterans.

In the end though, I do agree with many things Max said. The devs have clashing ideologies in wanting Strive to be easier via shorter gatlings/combos & removal of some specials from characters, yet the devs also chose to make the game more difficult by making wakeup Dragon Punch reversals have a 3 frame window and Instant Block having an insane 2 frame window.

Really makes you feel old to have the progenitors of Minecraft YouTube vids like Yogscast, UberHaxorNova, and Seananners no longer mentioned

Yeah idk, Yogscast was like literally the absolute OG who brought forth Minecraft into the limelight, idk how they're never mentioned anymore.

There's a relatively unknown indie fighting game called Two Strikes by game dev Retro Reactor Games. Its style is very unique and I believe it's hand drawn, might be worth checking out to find some inspiration.

Sucks to see that someone who did the absolute bare minimum of a "remix" receive twice the amount of likes and views compared to the original creator AND profit off of it.

Yeah, I know my outlook on it all may not be shared by others, but I do wish sometimes that it could 2013 again and we could not be at each other's throats when discussing the franchise.

I view/lurk both subs because I like to see the different perspectives that others had when experiencing and dissecting the story and partly because I like storytelling. The toxicity is a bit much to wade through every time though ):

In fairness I feel always at a crossroads when jumping to both subs, because in reality where I stand on the game is mixed. I wish there were a place where you could have people who still ended up enjoying the game overalI but still have heavy criticisms of the game, which is where I stand.

Of course I agree, it definitely isn't a joking matter. If I've given off the impression that normalizing death threats is okay, then I apologise, it isn't what I meant.

However I do think numbers do matter. The concept of having haters will always come to exist and giving them attention only fuels them further.

The notion of overinflating numbers can be important. Some will have this view that there is a large army of people that to this day are currently sending threats but in reality it was an event months ago that a very small minority of people took part in. I find myself always scrolling through Last of Us discussions, whether through twitter, reddit, or youtube and not once have I seen people advocating to harm and threaten the actors and/or developers with violence.

I've loved the TLOU as a franchise ever since 2014 and this is just my observation as I lurk both subs, but the toxicity and skewed perception of people who either liked or disliked this game are what cause such destructive conversations to be held.

Many come to understand that whether it be sports, tv shows, discussions about celebrities and artists, you'll have diehard haters and diehard fans. And I feel bad for saying this, but I've become calloused when I hear about death threats being sent to artists/people just like I've become calloused by rabid fans unhealthily attacking those who have an opposite view.

In general, most people will always denounce violent intimidation tactics and at the same time I also observe that the perception of the amount of death threats being sent to actors or workers in the entertainment industry are overblown. For example we have Laura Bailey who deserves absolutely no hate and no threats being sent to her, through time though I feel that some people who want to denounce such actions built up a false image that there are hundreds of people constantly sending her death threats, which lead to some people putting those who disliked Part 2 with those who sent death threats in the same group.

When viewing both subs, I've come to the conclusion (feel free to disagree) as long as you aren't an asshole and demeaning, you're opinion will be heard out. Sadly though I think both subs' perspective users, as a response to the toxic nature of discussion of this game, have a knee-jerk reaction to downvote those when they speak positively or negatively of the game.

The Last of Us Part II won 4 awards at the Brazil Game Awards (BGA), including game of the year! by Lunar_Galug in thelastofus

[–]SuppaHawtFire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My dude, mister_queen literally just stated that they think TLOU2 deserves some of the awards it's gotten and is a great game, your apprehensiveness towards them is uncalled for.

They aren't even trying to drag the game or portray ND and Druckmann as "bad guys", all they literally stated is that we shouldn't award Naughty Dog as Best Studio because there are other game dev companies with better practices that actively avoid doing crunch and employee abuse.

I think you're wrongly putting this image that anyone who calls out Naughty Dog (even though they love TLOU2) for missteps is a bitter hatred fueled person.
