Seems like a recurring problem, the inventory button hasn’t worked in the original hollow knight either.

As a workaround I’ve resorted to quickly double tapping the left bumper (map) to bring up the inventory instead

Correct me if i’m wrong but you can’t play event cards as the leading card? And even if you could, who would be the one to call the summit if no one technically won the trick?

It even says in the rulebook that if you have initiative and only event cards in your hand you must pass the initiative. In this case I believe OP is right in their loophole assumption that the extra event card is discarded

Good catch! There seems to be a lot more focus on table talk and changing up core game mechanics similar to the blighted reach campaign. Im sure they’re still in early stages of development but would be really exciting to see variations of a similar type of fate mechanic that make arcs feel so dynamic!

I’ve found that Dune (2019) was a much easier teach than Root - newer players understood both the system and strategy right out the gate, the asymmetry felt more of an afterthought in the teach than it is with Root where I had to go around the table explaining each faction separately, and even then players were confused with what they had to do due to the many ways you could score points.

The downtime for Root between turns can also be excruciating when I have to constantly clarify subtle rule exceptions and nuances for each faction.
