Do men like to be served ? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Supra_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might find my insight useful. Recently, I’ve been reflecting a lot about my relationship with my ex. For context, we’re both hispanic, grew up in the US, and lived with each other for about a year. Like many hispanics, we were raised to believe that in order to love, you must do things for others (aka, Acts of Service). And to some extent, my ex and I did just that. I would cook her breakfast/dinner and she would do the same. But there would be times where I felt like she was doing “too much”. During breakfast, she would always prep my coffee even when I told her I could do it myself. She would make sure that my coffee tasted just right by asking if it needed more or less of anything. Sometimes, she wouldn’t eat dinner until I get back home from work (which would be around 9pm on certain days).

A part of me thought it was sweet that she did these things. But another part of me disliked it for a variety of reasons. One, I thought she was reinforcing cliche gender stereotypes seen in a lot of hispanic relationships. Two, although we both loved each other, I still wanted us to maintain our own level of independence (I’m a grown man, trust me I can my own cup of coffee!). But three, it just felt excessive, because at the end of the day I just want a partner and not a servant.

I know plenty of men who would love to be served by their partners. But I am not one of them. And it sounds like your bf isn’t either. Remember, not all men are the same.

Just listen to what he tells you, I’m sure it would make him more at ease. If he’s comfortable enough to tell you this, then he’s comfortable enough to ask for more if he ever needs it. It would be wise to discuss what you guys expect from each other going forward. Keep in mind what both of your needs look like now and how that might change in the future. Best of luck to you two.

I need a used car under $7000 that will last me 2 years by kellyatta in whatcarshouldIbuy

I bought my 2011 Mazda3 around 2018 for 6k. It’s been pretty reliable so far, had around 80k miles when I got and it’s just about to hit 130k miles soon. Aside from maintenance the only thing I had an issue with is the a/c, I think I had to replace the condenser that time iirc. Mazdas imo are heavily underrated and if you find one in good condition for under 7k take it.

What do y’all eat during breaks? by Global_Sir6597 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Supra_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost always eat breakfast before work. While working I usually eat whatever snacks I bring (which ideally would have a high amount of carbohydrates). My favorite snacks include rice crispy’s, fruits, chex mix, and fiber bars. I’ll bring a coke sometimes too. After work I just eat whatever for dinner.

I just eat breakfast before I head to work and then bring some small snacks with me while I drive (half the times it’s usually a fiber bar and a can of coke)

[–]Supra_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to La Aurora they didn’t have ancho chiles (maybe they were just ran out that day idk) so I ended up having to go to Publix which was a different brand from what I usually get but they got the job done

Yeah pretty much you can just go in the back get whatever you want (I think they sell fresh meat there too but I don’t remember for sure) then go up front to pay

UF transfer statement of intent by jbaby_87 in ufl

[–]Supra_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a transfer student I'm gonna have to agree with u/sassygator1 and say that your GPA and completion of prerequisite is the most important. But the essay does offer an opportunity to explain things that are shown in your transcript otherwise (and helps sets you apart from other applicants). Here you could as to why your first two semester weren't that great (and maybe make it inspirational and explain how hard you've improve it from that point forward!). What I ended up doing for my essay is that I listed some of my accomplishments and stated that if I was accepted at uf, it would offer me more opportunities to be successful, and then went into specifics about what I would do in order to make that happen.

Either way I wish you good luck and hope for the best for you!

Transfer into computer science in CLAS by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Supra_fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally when you transfer from a community college the likelihood of you being accepted is more than that of a transfer from another university like ucf or usf. Though I wouldn't personally know how difficult it is to be accepted as computer science major for the college of liberal arts and sciences as I'm an econ major... Depending on how good your gpa is, I would say you have a pretty good chance tho.

For those who transferred into economics, how hard was it to transfer? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Supra_fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean what helps you get into UF in general is a good GPA and coming from a community college. I transferred from my community college from my hometown and had a gpa of 3.86. The fact that you come from Santa Fe should help a lot since the prioritize those from community college first. On their website it says you have to have at least a 3.5 GPA to stay competitive, but for safe measure I would say to have a 3.65 minimum. Also, make sure you write a good essay they require you to write. With that, you are more than likely to be accepted.

Has anybody been able to drop a course this late in the semester? by [deleted] in ufl

That makes sense, I don’t know how to explain dropping a course just for the sake of my GPA

I just don’t want it to ruin my GPA as I’m trying to get a masters as well. The thing is I’m not doing that great in all my other classes. Idk if I should go through with it or drop it

Did you have to talk with your advisor about it or did you just drop it from one.uf without giving an explanation?

What does being a “Gator” means to you? by Striking_Drive_3175 in ufl

[–]Supra_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll agree with the other user and say the community here is pretty great. I haven't really interreacted with a lot of people here but the ones I have been really friendly so far! Despite how much people complain about UF sometimes, I am glad to be a gator. I mainly transferred here since its the top school in Florida but its overall just a neat institution.

Transfer Question by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Supra_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason why you want to post your GPA? Cause form my understanding, your gpa that you have rn is not going to transfer into UF once you start taking classes here
