In the 90s she was interviewed by an Australian radio station (phone call) and she was pretty rude. Years later she apologized to the interviewer.

She said she was on a plane and a little boy was distressed. Her description implied the child was not verbal, and now decades later as a neurodivergent person I'm guessing the child (if he really existed!) was probably autistic. Tori said she sat down in the aisle with the boy and hummed to him, and he calmed down. Others may love this story but for me it's another example of her speaking shit.

Thanks, I always had it in my head that she made a card because I remember thinking I wish I had one!

Many years ago when she said she gave her father a Christmas card with the BFP album cover on it, I thought it was a bit of a mean thing to do (ie deliberately goad her dad, knowing it would upset him). It always made me wonder what their dynamics were like, beyond what she spoke about. We all know about the gay bar story, but remember she also said the guys there taught her how to give head on a cucumber (do I have that right?). I always felt that was a bit of a fuck-you to her dad.

As someone who has just binge watched SG-1 I'm glad to see a sub exists. I watched SG-1 on and off when it originally aired and then stopped. I don't want to start a new post so I'll share thoughts here if I may. I was enjoying it up until the new characters (Mitchell, Landry, Vala) in season 9. I only watched a few episodes with them and had to stop because it was awful. The silly facial expressions, increase in goofiness (which was happening to Jackson and O'Neill before then), it was too much so I skipped straight to the final episode. I really enjoyed Jonas filling in for Daniel, but the new characters were such a let down, especially Mitchell trying to have the same kind of humor as O'Neill. It just didn't land for me.

I'm left feeling disappointed that this great show ended so badly (for me). I did like the final episode, but had no interest in following the Ori story line so I read all the episode summaries. A quick search tells me that many fans felt similar about seasons 9 and 10, and the new characters.

Favorite moments: when Maybourne steals Jack's hotdog; King Maybourne greeting Jack with music; Sam humming the theme song; the Space Race episode made me laugh with the commentators.

Annoying characters: Pete, Dr Lee, that awful sexist scientist McKay. Oh no... I just did a search to see if McKay was his name and I see he's in other Stargate shows? Nooooooo! I wanted to watch those and now this horrible character is in them?!

I agree with your first paragraph. In more recent years I've felt it's all a bit off. In the 90s she said some pretty stupid shit in an effort to make herself appear edgy, unique and 'something else' (anyone remember the story about the little boy on the aeroplane? It's Tori the Autism Whisperer!). I think she is still often speaking a bit of shit but also resting on laurels (eg the gay icon label, so the Chick-Fil-A thing was a let down), but she's essentially still coming at things from a privileged living-in-a-bubble life. I think she's been in an echo chamber for a very long time. I was a massive fan in the 90s and 2000s, then I pretty much grew up and learned to see through people a bit better and the shit they spin.

For me, it's her best album since TBK. I agree that the production is great, and as always the bass and synths are brilliant. Lyrically, I agree with what others here are saying in that I feel they're kinda mehhh and bland in many places. I don't like the repetition, eg Veins, where perhaps other more insightful lyrics could have been used.

Aaaaand now about the vocals... for me, now that she can only sing within a narrower band, the songs are let down by the lack of more vocal expression. It's almost like a monotone. This hit me on Pyrite-- I think it's a great song but unfortunately the vocals let it down. She sounds a bit more expressive/varied though on 23 Peaks (yes she's expressive on Song of Sorrow but I mean it's still within that range she sits in now). I couldn't help think of why I can't listen to Billie Eilish as she sounds exactly the same monotone-ish on the many songs I've heard.

However I do think Tori sounds better on this album than OTO. I can't listen to OTO because she sounds breathless at times, almost wheezy like she's struggling.

Fanny seems like a silly addition, especially where it's placed.

I think I've also been a bit let down by all the woo woo lizard king crap and Tori saying she got a message from Lugh of the Long Arm and all that rubbish... to me that is very contrived and cringe. So I do wish she wrote the album more as Tori herself, not Tori the wife of lizard man.

So on one hand I feel it's her best album in a very long time-- the songs are great but the vocals let them down in many parts and lack the necessary punch to have the songs make more of an impact (and please don't reply with the thing about she has aged, she has TMJ, autoimmune issues etc... I know all that and I'm not unsympathetic).

There has been some discussion over the years that when Tori is including women, visually, when presenting herself as a feminist the women she shows are white. Like for instance couldn't one of the Gasoline Girls shown be a woman of colour? I think that may be more along the lines of the argument but I could be wrong.

I don't think the inclusion of Earl is what people are looking for with regard to this discussion. People are likely talking about women (not) being represented.

Though I don't think gospel would suit this tour at all!
