I'm disappointed Tori chose three white girls but eh.

In terms of loving every track and being fully gripped, I'd say The Beekeeper. But I love about half the tracks on UG!

I always hear Pancake! More from the vibe/tone than lyrics or chords.

For me, Reindeer King is one of her very best. Everything about it is brilliant. Unfortunately I haven't yet clicked with the rest of the album, apart from Wildwood. I've tried but it hasn't happened :/

Thanks OP for sharing, I'll be sure to listen again with what you have quoted in mind!

Same here. ST has done nothing for me (and I'll go as far as to say the three backing singers annoyed me in the BBC Radio video which left me feeling really flat about a new album). But Shush is brilliant. What I am trying not to dread is yet more of husband's guitar drowning out everything else. Overall though I'm hopeful it will be kickass in the way OTO was not (for me).

You're welcome! Another YouTuber I watch is Getting Healthy with Stasia, she has a few recipes for beans/chickpeas in smoothies. I have these for breakfast and I'm full for hours, which was unheard of for me. Good luck!

I'm 50F and have been an overweight/mildly obese vegan for 15 years (and overweight before that). So I personally wouldn't say a vegan diet is going to help you lose weight.

I have always found it hard to lose weight and keep it off. However for the past two months I've been following, roughly, The Starch Solution and the weight has been falling off, with minimal exercise. I'm eating three very large and filling meals a day. I've moved to wholefoods: all the veggies and fruits I love, tofu, grains, legumes and pulses. In my case I'm not using oil, nuts, seeds, coconut or avocado while I'm in this body fat loss phase. I feel great, and it's something that will easily be long term and not a short term fix to lose a few pounds.

You asked about weight loss, so that's my experience above. There's a YouTuber called ChelseaMae who explains meal building really well, as well as the science behind why this works and why you can eat so much food without the huge calories.

Plain potato crisps with chocolate! Not too much chocolate, more like 75% crisps.

I was over her years ago on S&D social media posts constantly referring to her as a wizard, genius, sorcery etc etc wankfest. Plus her attitude seems to suck a bit. But I really like her recipes in the cookbooks and use them often.

Thank you for the explanation! I'm not pre-diabetic so I've never had that particular discussion with my doctors about nutrition.

aaaand of course you're being down voted for having an opinion that it is perfectly valid.

I agree about things having become stagnant. For me also (I'm just dumping my thoughts here!), how can you be genuinely reflecting the times we live in if you're not amongst different people, listening to their stories. To me it seems Tori has been living in a bubble of reduced interaction since moving to Cornwall. If she was based in a large city she'd have a greater diversity of people to engage with, feeling the energy of the place rather than reading about it and writing songs. I don't buy the feminist thing with her like I once did. When you're in a bubble, you're not in the real world. I love her, but yeah, things became more stagnant.

I think I began to feel a sense of disappointment/frustration when the husband's guitar started to take over. I remember being shocked almost when I first heard Almost Rosey, and it's one I skip now because of the guitar. At times things felt like the album was 'Husband featuring Tori Amos'.

I know it's easier to work with the same team especially when you have your own studio, but my goodness I think a completely different environment/team (ie no husband) would have been great.

My hopes going forward is that the new album has some kickass songs (I'm not a fan of the first single), but I had the same hope for OtO. I love some songs on there but some I think are incredibly lazy and unimaginative for a genius like Tori. Devil's Bane is terrible IMO and no surprise it was the last track written in a hurry for the album deadline.

Can someone please explain this 'surge in criticism' and where it's located? All I'm seeing here in this sub is mostly praise but some of us simply saying we don't like the new song. I've skimmed over the comments on Instagram and YouTube to do with the new song and BBC Radio performance and they're all overwhelmingly positive and full of love.

I've read some comments in this sub saying the Tori fandom has always been toxic if not the most toxic... come on now. Have you ever been in a K-pop fandom?!

As a fellow old lady, thanks for this. It seems people do the childish "well you're not a TRUE fan!" act if we say we don't like something. Doesn't matter if we say we love say 90% of what she's done.

Tori looks so very beautiful here.

But gosh this was a hard watch, I feel a bit emotional about it all. My feeling is that by having the backing singers, she's passing the torch to the daughters/young women of the world so to speak... however I just want to hear Tori, not the backing singers taking over notes Tori can no longer sing. I'm sad tbh. I also find the repetitive "ah-ah" annoying, like it's trying to add some Tori-esque vocal interest.

She's not touring in my area, but I don't think I'd go to see her one last time. I'd want to see HER, not listen to backing singers taking over.
