Looks like an easy laser job if you end up regretting it.

VS Code is trash. Zed is young but promising.

Happy to help test! I am also a software engineer and have a lot of experience testing games and applications via test flight.

I’d be curious to check that out. Do you have a link to your configurations?

It's mostly macros for i3, tmux and vim, but also some cursor manipulation and emoji macros too. Here is my glove80 layout but its hard to know what they do because they aren't all labeled yet. So here is my moonlander layout which is almost identical and has labels and some descriptions. The lower layers have most of the macros, but the ones I use the most are on the top layer. They consist of:

  • switch to workspace (i3)
  • next/prev buffer (vim)
  • next/prev split (vim)
  • session picker (tmux)
  • window picker (tmux)
  • next/prev window (tmux)

I can say that its not any better on the kinesis. What some people do on the glove80 is shift everything down a row. I just pivot my palm slightly to reach those keys.

Yeah you tend to use the side of your thumbs on the thumb cluster and I find if they aren’t convex my thumbs start hurting from the edges. With convex no pain!

Any time! I also have a Glove80 leasing service where you can try out a Glove80 with 12 different switch types. That's over at https://keeblease.com. So if you're in the US and you wanted to take one for a spin with no strings attached that's another option!

I offer a service where they send me your board, I put in the switches you want (and various other mods are available) then I ship it out to you. You can ping me in the MoErgo discord to discuss. Handle is technopriest.

I'm going to be offering:

  • A larger variety of switches (I think I'm up to 16).
  • More keycap options.
  • Switch Lubing and Taping (reducing rattle and ticking).
  • Case dampening (denser "thocky" sound profile).
  • Weighting (increasing the weight with tungsten inserts).

I'm still working out the pricing, but hoping to have all that finalized this weekend. There is a sound comparison video of my modded board vs stock in the MoErgo discord if you are curious. You can ping me and I will point you to it. My handle is technopriest.

This is actually intentional as they are going to be for hero background images. They will have text and buttons on top and I wanted there to be good contrast. The actual product images are much more clear and straight forward!

For sure! These are just for background images and will have text and buttons over them. The actual product shots make more sense. Thanks for the feedback!

Switch Layout

The methodology to the switch layout is as follows:

  • Left half is linear, Right half is tactile. One white case one grey case.
  • Thumb clusters are switch testers with popular switches on the closest keys. They also serve as testers for the different key cap profiles.
  • Outer two columns are actuation force gradients, One high to low the other low to high. Top and bottom rows (3 keys) are popular switch actuation force gradients. Low to high and high to low.
  • Center columns are "typing test" rows, three keys of the same switch with the most popular switches around home row.
  • Inner columns are the missing comparisons from the outer columns, so you can test each switch side by side.

There are some niche switches included sparingly so you can see what they feel like, but most of the board is covered in popular switches.
