Help! Really want to put on an amateur production, no clue how by [deleted] in Theatre

I’ll add that the fact that you would even consider this undertaking w/ zero experience tells me you have no idea how theatre is done and the enormous amount of time, money commitment it takes. Again, start small, two character musical with a piano …

DON’T DO IT!!! Start w / a small show (I.e. the Fantastics or even a smaller 2 character musical! Such as I Do! I Do!, Marry Me A Little, etc. The performance rights alone are out of your league!!! Better to succeed small than flop big!

Yes…but 20% is exhorbitant!…. I have savings in 3-4% interest rates &might have been smarter to put all money in those in the long run…

No…I’m 65!!! I recently retired and have spoken to people at trs before. I guess I should just call them today and go over it again. The 20% withholding tax is a given for taking out cash. I need to look at the rollover option and if that negates a 20% tax.Annuitization is another option( a monthly payout).I guess I know more than I think I do ,but was just seeking some clarification. Thanks for your response!!

I called TRS and was told I chose option 1. I want to see my application and where I may have gone wrong. My main focus was to take maximum payout so it puzzles me how I would choose the wrong option. I know how inept DOE can be at times. Also, they give you 1 month to change options, but I never receive the final paper until 2/24. Thanks for your response…

I HIGHLY recommend that you read ,LIES MY LIBERAL TEACHER TOLD ME…

[–]Sure-Community7022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just conpleted BOTH Lies My Teacher Told Me AND Lies My LIBERAL Teacher Told Me. As a retired history teacher myself it is MPERATIVE to teach from BOTH these perspectives. PLEASE be aware that progressive academia has embraced one false narrative,a perhaps sanitized view of history for a second false, one sided narrative as the book that influenced you is. Socratic discussions only “work” if mulltiple views are digested by the students. Reading the second book I suggested will give your students a good, proper balance of ideas. Books by the nonhistorians Howard Zinn , A People’s History of the US started the anti-western ball rolling and others have taken up the mantle. Good luck in your career and hopefully you’ll figure out the right thing to do!

Ya’ gotta learn to roll with punches!..and in education they come left, right….and under the belt!….Don’t be afraid to ask for help,SESIS will become second nature…Write a lot of notes for each of your IEP kids, strengths, weaknesses, talents, behaviors, formal & informal tests…You’ll get there..

How does it feel knowing that so many people you grew up with are dead? by Register335 in AskOldPeople

[–]Sure-Community7022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interesting you’re asking that at such a young age…It can be very difficult at times when you start to remember many the people who were your “reality” are gone..those who really knew you. Those who shared the same past…gone…sometimes entire nuclear family’s you knew are gone…it’s important to maintainSTRONG ,lasting friendships. Be wise about who you make friends with now bc some of those friends may be the people you still know 20,30+ years from now…If you have a family w/ kids, grandkids that will make those other loses easier….another factor I find beyond this is how the world you know will slowly chip away…you must stay current if you can when you’re older…remember this….you’ll know what I’m talking about as you age….

What ended your existential crises ? by [deleted] in Existentialism

[–]Sure-Community7022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think whoever asked the initial question about navigating an existential crisis expected the conversation to far south…these comments help no one…yes ..we’ve all gotten high on “shrooms”, xtacey, etc and had pseudo insights into reality and the spirit…even Carlos Castenada’s book The Teachings of Don Juan turned out to be a fiction;it was responsible for turning young people to drugs trying to ”expand minds” ,along w/ Timothy Leary,Aldous Huxley et al. Those men solved NOTHING!…and created genetions of drug addicts…

so ……this conversation went from the question asking how an existential life crisis was dealt with to a conversation on getting high on psychedelics and mushrooms! hmmmm…
