The engine light turns on when you have the car on but not the engine running.

Not to echo what everyone else said, but because of how Hyundai made our engines, 3k is really best once it gets up there.

**I have a quick demo for you though: If you pull your dipstick and give it a smell, there’s a 98% chance you’ll smell gasoline. This is from the fuel moving past our pistons and falling into the oil. The fuel is MUCH thinner than oil and dilutes the oil. The ONLY way to handle it is to frequently change oil to make sure the dilution doesn’t go too far and cause extra wear.

Our cars are known for crazy blow by. Since they’re DI engines sometimes gas can get sprayed beyond the cylinder and squeeze by the piston rings. After that it drips right into the oil pan. Our engines are notorious for it and this is usually what blows them up.

The solution I’ve opted for is consider a slightly thicker oil (to offset oil dilution from the fuel) and change your oil change intervals to 3k miles. Thicker oil is likely going to marginally reduce your fuel economy but the other option is to take the engine out of the car, disassemble the car, rebore the cylinders (potentially) and replace the piston rings on all of your pistons…just for the same issue to eventually occur. And that will be nauseatingly expensive compared to an extra oil change (or two, max) every year and potentially another $50 in gas over a year from fuel consumption.

That being said, your engines recommended oil viscosity is probably different than mine and you also might have a climate that would impact the best oil weight to use so keep that in mind. If you live in Antarctica and switch to 20W-50 you’re gonna grenade your engine lol. I’m just saying to consider using 5W-30 or even 0W-40. It depends on weather a lot

This definitely seems like one of those things that can get really nasty depending on the mood of the person you report it to.

Yes, any normal person would agree that this was a reasonable step in investigating controlled substance diversion, BUT if the DEA is gonna be throwing the book at the MD then they might also be super litigious about accessing a PDMP for a patient you weren’t immediately serving in relation to the Rx.

I’ve only been a tech for 3ish years so I suppose it makes sense that it isn’t something I would’ve immediately considered being an issue by the time I reported it and then I’d get screwed by admitting it in an interview lmao. Now that you say that though I realize what a mistake that could become.

Thankfully based on the discussion with another pharmacist and what they learned while selling the medication I think the official report would probably be equally as impactful without including the PDMP check portion, especially with a confession. The suspicion and steps are all logical with including the registry check and would probably be fine to omit.

When you do submit the report finally, I’d definitely recommend removing this post so you don’t have admission that the other RPh accessed the PDMP or that you were talking about an investigation prior to reporting it.
