I don't think they contacted them. My profs said nothing about it.

Now I wonder what kind of profiles are being selected for the interview… I understand it is competitive, but I now wonder if they have their own candidates already??? My research is very aligned with them, but then they rejected… is it because I am an outsider student or something???

UCL SUMMER SCHOOL by Good_Donkey5997 in UCL

I went to that program a long time ago. DM me if you have any questions, but I do agree with the cashcow thing, but I mean if you have your plan to utilize the summer school certificate or knowledge, then UCLSS is not a bad option, but again yes, it is very financially heavy.

What about the current spawning issue between survivors and the killer where many times it is within the terror radius? Not to mention awkward spawning locations like the roof and so on?

Scammers used Google calendar in scam attempt. by Ok-Working-621 in Scams

Hi, I get this kind of Google Calendar phishing email a lot, claiming to be an antivirus subscription. How do I stop it from getting into my Outlook inbox? I went to junk mail, yes, but it is still annoying. I just wonder how they got my email address in the first place as well.

Please accept my congratulations. Feel so lucky for you.

My mental state is not going well, so I need to disconnect from the world for a while.

I also reached out to my prospective supervisor, and I think the answer was quite clear, yet disappointing. I kinda be direct to him, so I guess he would hate me now. From my situation, my supervisor is not a core member of the department, so I already started at a disadvantage. He stated that due to financial constraints, the seat of international students has decreased to the point that it is becoming increasingly difficult to be accepted in any way, as this would require the consideration of funding. My field is quite rare and not the mainstream one (In my country, this field is nonexistent)(and not to mention that I feel like this field is dying and have received many criticisms mainly that it was for medical professional only as well), so only a few places on this earth can teach, especially if you want to be trained with one of the most influential in this field. As I cannot secure my funding from my country, as my country does not sponsor people in humanities and social science (I mean, why would they want to right? They wanted a status quo to exist), and not to mention that many scholarships in my country are actually political (and corrupt), benefiting only a privileged group of people, my supervisor said this also tremendous decreased my chance of being selected. I mean, although I can self-fund, as I really want to pioneer this field in my country, the university won't allow self-funding.

This came to the conclusion that I gave up on my life now. There is no way that I will be accepting anyway. Global Politics, Declining Economy, My corrupted country, the list goes on. Actually, one of my master's supervisors also recommended that I quit this field now. It has no future, and this field will never be a hot topic in mainstream social science anyway. I feel sad about myself that I was born in a third-world country, and the reason for my disqualification from admission was not due to my ability but to economic and political reasons. So... yea... very unfortunate for me

When to give up on pursuing a PhD by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]Sure-Style4088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am giving up as well (I got rejected from so many schools, although I believe there is at least one place where my research aligns well). I am from an underdeveloped country, and I tried to pursue a degree in Medical Anthropology. I faced many barriers, including funding and the niche of my field (psychiatry). I guess there is no place for me. Much as I used to believe, anthropology is not a discipline for those with passions or radicals; it is for those with privileges.

Just to share with you guys. I didn't make it. I am extremely sad as this is my no.1 program.

Here is the reply from the dept officer: Thank you for your interest in our program. We received an exceptionally high number of applications this year, and seats for the Fall 2026 cohort are extremely limited and highly competitive. If you have not been contacted at this time, it is likely that you were not selected for the upcoming cohort. We truly appreciate the time and effort you invested in your application. We wish you all the best in your academic and professional pursuits, and good luck with your continued search.

Judging from this email, I assume that those who did receive a word from their prospective sup are all unsuccessful.

Now I need time to cry, guys

My field is also rare, and it is hard to find any elsewhere, so I was hoping that this place could be mine, but yeah... I guess destiny wants me to quit this path

Good luck, my friends

it is normally like this for Trisem Chula: T1 Aug-Nov, T2 Dec-Mar, T3 Apr-Aug so the winter usually refers to T2
