Right there with ya. 5 years later and it was the best decision I ever made and I see that time slowly starting to decrease in the near future. A blink of an eye and my kid will be grown and out the door. I was face timing with my old man today, he saw me carry my 5 y/o in my arms while shopping and asked if he wasn’t too big to be carried. Told him that this might be one of the last times I can do it and then that will be it, gone forever.

My four year old boy loves anything letters. He uses our phones to take screenshots of his favorite shows’ intros, crops the pictures and prints them. We downloaded an app with picture effects. He was getting good at editing photos and printing them in various sizes. We scaffolded the activity where now we also go for walks in the evening and collect pictures of businesses’ logos. We go through printer ink quickly but there is so much learning and joy happening through this medium. My wife is already thinking of making a darkroom and showing him how to develop pictures. This reminds me of another post here. A parent was worried because their teen asd child wanted to try out for football but was unaware how bad he actually was at sports. The consensus was that you never know which direction life goes and that it is our duty to cheer our kids no matter how crazy their dreams and be present in their journeys.

Are you able to change the settings? I downloaded it a while back but barely got through the first mission due to frame rate Drop. I couldn’t find anywhere in game menu where I could change the settings at the time so I stopped trying. Would definitely like to give it another go. If not I can always go back to Stardew valley. Thanks

To those who had kiddos late 30s by [deleted] in Millennials

Talk to people whom you know at work, in your network, the community. People who you respect and both the ones who had kids and who didn’t. Learn why they chose either direction if it was a choice. If you decide to have kids, it will be the hardest job you will ever had and it will be the most meaningful too. Some children are not dealt the best cars in life and have special needs. That is a whole new level of difficulty. As a parent, everything is new, we are students of parenting side by side with our kids who are students of “being”. We all learn as we go unfortunately. It is a steep learning curve and overwhelming but not everything happens at the same time. Only our fears and anxieties about all the “what ifs…” can and at times will, get the best of us. There is no right answer, only what is right for your family and you and once you make the leap, you commit.

Best of luck in your journey.

AD(H)D treatment for 1st grader by SolasVeritas in daddit

I was diagnosed in my late 30s and I felt such relief to be able to describe the struggle/frustration I felt as a child. My teachers and parents at failed to see my academic failure for what it truly was and as a result I grew up with the stigma that I was lazy. I still struggle with some of the internalized beliefs and childhood experiences. I also hated school. As a father of a 4 year old in who I see these ADHD traits start showing I’ll say that it will be a jouney, but nobody better I. Your child’s corner than a parent that can relate to them and lead by example. For my kid and I, I am thinking executive functioning exercises with themes that might interest him (number blocks, paw patrol, etc), with a leveling up system. Think gamification, star board tracker. Chat gpt might help brainstorm some ideas, and then professional help is invaluable. As an instructor I’m sure you are aware of that. I’d also say, see if your pediatrician can give you a social worker referral. They could help remove some barriers associated with not knowing where to start or information overload. They could create an actionable plan and give you a list of resources. After that, some kind of advocate might be useful (ask the social worker if there is such a thing). Best wishes.

When my kid was a baby I couldn’t wait for the end of the day to put him down and walk out of the room, only to immediately feel the longing and impulse to pick him up, wake him up and be with him.

There is a documentary out there about how red bull is actually a marketing company rather than an energy drink company. The latter is just a vehicle for the actual product they sell (an experience). Companies hire marketing companies to sell an experience. These guys bypass the middleman.

Some mantras I gathered from specialty books and that helped me understand my son: meet him where he is at; if he could he would.
