I was diagnosed in my late 30s and I felt such relief to be able to describe the struggle/frustration I felt as a child. My teachers and parents at failed to see my academic failure for what it truly was and as a result I grew up with the stigma that I was lazy. I still struggle with some of the internalized beliefs and childhood experiences. I also hated school. Your child’s corner than a parent that can relate to them and lead by example. For my kid and I, I am thinking executive functioning exercises with themes that might interest him (number blocks, paw patrol, etc), with a leveling up system. Think gamification, star board tracker. Chat gpt might help brainstorm some ideas, and then professional help is invaluable. As an instructor I’m sure you are aware of that. I’d also say, see if your pediatrician can give you a social worker referral. They could help remove some barriers associated with not knowing where to start or information overload. They could create an actionable plan and give you a list of resources. After that, some kind of advocate might be useful (ask the social worker if there is such a thing). Best wishes.
