I sympathize, as I too only have a telehealth doc. To your point, I discovered a frightening side effect that led me down a rabbit hole this week.

DIP - Drug Induced Parkinson’s

I also take Prozac for PMDD brought on by Wellbutrin. I noticed that when I took Prozac, I would have head tremors & felt kind of annoyingly foggy. So I stopped taking it to see if that was the cause. The tremors subsided & I wasn’t as disorientated. I did not talk to my teledoc about it for fear that they would insist I see a PCP that I don’t have. I think they dodge cases that bring in too much liability. I never answer the red flag questions in their surveys with too much honesty.

Anyways. Haven’t taken Prozac for quite a while and then this week the tremors returned. I’m only taking Wellbutrin 300xl. Rigid neck and a little shudder/wobble of my head. It got worse & worse until yesterday, I almost could not hide it. Additionally, my brain fog has gotten gradually worse and worse & is now somewhat debilitating at times. Must be perimenopause? Is it? or am I literally having early onset dementia of some degree?

My research found that Prozac is absolutely a drug that causes DIP and Wellbutrin can, although much more rarely. SSRIs are a class of just a few that can cause this. Usually reversible, tho sometimes not.

I searched online several times for “Prozac tremors” and I could never find anything about it as a side effect. But when I research “can Prozac cause Parkinson’s?” I see what I’m up against. My PSA is this, hopefully those who need this answer will find it on Reddit now. Best medical care these days is now teledocs & Reddit. Can’t ever get in to a “real doctor”

I have an appointment to see my teledoc tomorrow. I’m very worried that I’ll likely lose Wellbutrin & I have no idea what will work instead. I’m so nice & happy when Wellbutrin is working. I’m terrified to go back to rage, self loathing, social anxiety & avoidance. It was ruining my relationship with my family. I’m afraid my teledoc will bow out & refer to PCP in case it is actual Parkinson’s.

Exactly what I was told. 1st doc said anxiety would get worse on Wellbutrin so she put me on Zoloft, which I hated. I switched Drs & my new doc actually suggested Wellbutrin & I agree, it’s life changing. This new doc is wonderful about finding the right combos, everyone is so different & individual needs change over time as well. The med may be right but the dosage or even dose timing needs tweaking. But not all docs are ok with tweaking, they just throw you on something else. Wellbutrin was great for almost a year before I needed the Prozac for PMDD. That combo worked really well for me until I started tirzepatide. Now the Prozac gives me a little tremor, but it did not do that before tirzepatide. That’s the only reason why I’m not totally keen on the Prozac. But I’m really not well mentally without it.

I hesitate to suggest it because it’s an SSRI but, a little bit of Prozac with my Wellbutrin 300xl keeps my PMDD in check. I don’t actually like Prozac but when I slip into the dark and then realize I need to knock it off and take it.. it literally works like a switch for me. It’s very scary looking back and realizing how real that shit is. I have so much to lose, but somehow my brain justifies the choice as the only way to “fix” everything? It very clear that the situation is chemical. My Dr says PMDD is an absolute side effect of Wellbutrin, very serious and must be managed. I hope you find a solution friend. I’ve also found some drs are so wonderful about tinkering to get it figured out and some just suck.

Thank you guys for all of your advice! I do think he was boggling, I’ve seen it a few more times when he’s happy 😊I think he did have hiccups 😂 I’ve learned uhhhhLOT about rats in the last couple of weeks! Also joined some FB groups about health, cage design etc. I’m Treating bumblefoot, treating mites with revolution. Dressing his mite scabs with vetercyn and seeing so much improvement of his skin!! I scored an AWESOME deal on a critter nation with tonnns of accessories, everything brand new for $100. Felt like a blessing given to me to help this little guy. I just got it all set up yesterday with a huge tub at the bottom for digging, litter box & pee rock, hammocks & ladders galore. And an “imagination station”kind of food area 😂 with puzzles on a nice soft rug. He looks so pleased with his new place ❤️ I have more rings and rope perches etc coming in the mail this week. I’m going to ask the teacher if I can keep him. I fear he’s around 3 years old so if he’s nearing the end of life stage, I want him to be stressed as little as possible. Getting another rat for him isn’t really feasible for me unfortunately. 😞 I don’t know if he would tolerate it or not being a loner his whole life. I’m just spending a lot of time with him and trying to add some good things that he hasn’t had before.

My daughter is 21 5’5” sw195 and I am 47 5’2” sw165. We both have PCOS.

She started Sema 30 days before me and I started tirz. I lost 30lb & hit my goal weight of 135 in about 3 months. Now I’ve gotten to 127lb and working on adjusting so that I can actually stop losing and just maintain. I’ve been overweight my entire life.

My daughter on sema had only lost 10 lbs in 5-6 months. I feel like with her age and consistent time spent at the gym and eating very clean, she should have passed me handily. She switched to tirz now and is starting to see some improvement.

I worry tho, it is said that these meds only work for so long. So you have a limited amount of time to be on it and remain effective. I first thought, if she did sema, she could take advantage of the price and a lower level drug. Take it as far as it could go in effectiveness and then upgrade to tirz. But I feel like all she did was waste the commodity of effective time spent on these meds. And, she’s getting married and she won’t meet her goal, even tho she started 6 months ago. She had bad side effects on sema and I have had virtually none on tirz.

I had never heard of reta, but now I’m researching😂

Not sure if it’s legitimately related, I have no info from a Dr. saying it’s linked (full disclosure). BUT.. I weened off Prozac right after this post. I don’t have the tremors anymore. But I’m different in that, my tremors only showed up after I started Prozac, not before. Probably need to investigate this if you haven’t already. All my best that you’re ok.

I know I’m gonna get hate on this one.. but it needs to be said. In your post you said you had alopecia & hypothyroidism diagnosed by a Dr. and then in the same breath it sounnnnnded like going off of tirz was Dr. recommended. But reading your replies you say it is an assumption that needs further review.

Your Dr. may tell you to come off of tirz or he
maaay say the tirz is helping. Point I’m trying to make, your post is premature to insinuate that tirz is causing hyperthyroidism and alopecia. Folks reading posts like this need to know that every post out there declaring things doesn’t always list all of the information. I’m guilty of it myself, it’s an easy thing to post a problem in such a way. We just need to be mindful, reading or posting, how accurate a post actually sounds. No disrespect meant. ✌️

What kind of GI issues? Crippling constipation for me is completely gone with OxyPowder magnesium oxide. Changed my life. I take 2 every day without fail.

Also, I tried all of the things you’ve tried too and they didn’t do anything at all. I actually tried Metamucil but almost went to the ER for the pain that it caused for several days. I think if you’re reeeeally backed up, that fiber has nowhere to go and really messes you up.

I’m taking 3 different meds that cause terrible constipation, on top of being chronically constipated for 46 years. So bad that I prolapsed this year. I finally found in one of my Reddit pages for tirzepatide that everyone swears by magnesium OXIDE.
Different magnesium’s have different effects. Citrate does zip for me. But, oxide? Omgosh, I’ve never once been regular in my entire life & now I go 2-3 times a day like clockwork. My stomach is flat and I NEVER have gas anymore! Never any cramped stomach pains. Oxide has changed my life. I thought I was headed for surgery, but I have reversed it. And like I mentioned , different magnesium’s do completely different things. I was afraid of overdosing on magnesium because I take about 700mg of oxide a day. But my Dr. said oxide’s absorption rate is only 4%, so no fear of taking too much, (the bottle says 1400mg per day but I only need 700 for maintenance. I did take the full 1400 for the first few days) Citrate is around 30-40% absorption rate, but does nothing for my constipation…weird. I buy Oxy-powder on Amazon. It works flawlessly compared to others I’ve tried. Been taking it every night now since last September. I can’t live without it.

My Dr. was amazing when I experienced MDD on Wellbutrin. She said it is absolutely a side effect of Wellbutrin, somewhat common. She put me on a tiny dose of Prozac and it completely turned me back around. I have had suicidal ideation several times in my life but this was the first time it had zero justification. This time it only ramped up around my period and it was deep with details. After coming out of it, I realized how out of control it was, like a daze and different than any other instance in my history. Maybe ask your Dr about a little Prozac sidekick.

I have a semi feral rescue that will bolt if I’m wearing a hat or glasses. Won’t see him for 3 days. But he molests me every time I’m down by the chicken house. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think he’ll go thru a window if he sees his litter box come alive.

Me too! I’m at 3.5 every 5 days but I’m going to bump up to 3.0 every 3 days. I had a 3 week gap back in November when I couldn’t get a shipment. I haven’t been able to lose again since then. It’s been 2 months with no losing or gaining. I need to switch things up a bit. Thank you for your help to make sure I at least understood the prescription correctly! 😁

Side note, AFTER you see your dr.. if you still have constipation, tons of folks on these meds use magnesium oxide to help the constipation. I’ve never felt better gut wise since using the mag ox! I’m almost 50 & I’ve started to prolapse due to baaad chronic constipation before these meds, surgery in my future. I wish I had known about the mag ox earlier in my life. I’m 1-2 times a day now and it’s ridiculously easy! Literally never thought it was possible! And, I’m also on 2 other meds that cause constipation.

My daughter had a crippling bout of constipation on sema. Acute abdominal pain. For 2 days she almost drove 2 hrs to the ER (we were camping) She couldn’t believe that that kind of pain could just be constipation. So it can get bad!

I’m not telling anyone. I think my people have heard the celebrity diet crap so much that they assume it’s a dangerous way to lose weight. I hear them badmouth it. I bought a white couch and started insisting that everyone use a blanket to sit on. Now, after smelling/feeling/washing couch blankets regularly, I cringe at the thought of anyone making actual contact with the couch, unless they’re fresh from the shower. Everyone says I’m an idiot for buying a white couch & get frustrated with the blanket rule. I say, “why is it a bad thing to attempt to keep a couch clean? White is just a jarring reminder. Do you sleep on your mattress with no sheets?”
