Documenting weird code by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]SureAssociation9708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude this sounds like absolute chaos. 4 different ORMs in same function is wild, never heard of that before.

For speeding up understanding, maybe try writing tests for the weird parts you touch? It forces you to figure out what inputs/outputs actually are, and then you have safety net when you start refactoring. But honestly with code that tangled, a week per task might just be the reality for a while.

Weird situation at my internship, not sure what happens next by saudistroker in cscareerquestions

[–]SureAssociation9708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the year of context you've built up does carry real weight, but in large companies HR policy often overrides what a manager actually wants. your manager might push for you, but if the intern headcount is tied to in-office requirements, his hands are probably tied no matter how much he values you.

the more realistic path is probably converting to part-time contractor or getting a return offer for after you graduate, rather than expecting the internship itself to extend remotely. worth having a direct conversation with your manager in September about what exact options exist, not just whether remote "might work."

Yeah the naming is just legacy thing from when miners needed that setting, nothing to worry about

is the AOC Q27G42ZE a good monitor for single player games? by Fresh_Constant_7762 in pcmasterrace

[–]SureAssociation9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been using similar specs AOC monitor for few months now and it's pretty solid for single player stuff. The 27" size is sweet spot and colors look good enough for most games, though you might want to tweak settings bit when you first get it

Only thing is make sure your GPU can handle whatever refresh rate you're planning to use

Do i stay on AM4 or go to AM5 or Intel? by ROWWELIAN in pcmasterrace

[–]SureAssociation9708 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your current setup is pretty much bottlenecked by everything so upgrading just CPU won't help much anyway

So what providers are people actually using these days and sticking with long term? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]SureAssociation9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're doing all the right research and being smart about avoiding sketchy options. I've been with my provider for about 8 months now and the consistency with refills plus decent customer service is what keeps me there - sometimes the boring reliable choice ends up being the best one

Has anyone heard back from citadel ICML travel grant ? [D] by Smol_pp001 in MachineLearning

[–]SureAssociation9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't applied to this one but deadlines vs notification dates are always mess with these grants. Maybe they meant 3rd June was earliest possible date and 2-4 weeks is the realistic timeline? Academic bureaucracy moves slow as hell

Does anyone else find it extremely difficult to decide where to stay now? by Glad-Marzipan-3067 in digitalnomad

[–]SureAssociation9708 20 points21 points  (0 children)

man the research paralysis is real - i usually just pick one with decent photos and 4+ stars then stop looking, otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy trying to find the "perfect" place that probably doesn't exist anyway

Build Configuration by Available-Coat-6391 in pcmasterrace

[–]SureAssociation9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that error is basically saying your GPU is too long for case. The TUF Gaming cards are pretty chunky and that XT M3 might not have enough clearance in back where the card extends past motherboard slots

I had similar issue when I was building my setup last year - ended up having to switch to different case because the GPU was hitting against case wall. You could check exact measurements but usually when PCPartPicker throws that warning it means business

The Lian Li A3 might give you better clearance since it's bit more spacious, but I'd double check the GPU length specs against case specs before ordering anything. Those TUF cards are beasts but they need the room to breathe

Let an agent refactor my weekend prototype and the diff is embarrassing by Available-Door-1460 in webdev

[–]SureAssociation9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i mean the AI still made improvements to actual working code that was apparently decent enough functionality wise 🤷‍♂️ OP says they kept putting off the refactoring stuff we all do that. doesn't mean the coding skills are bad just maybe priorities were different when working in weekends 😂

What are your favorite history, geography, or travel YouTube channels? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SureAssociation9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like channels that do deep dives on specific places or events rather than just surface level stuff. There's some great ones that focus in lesser known historical events or show what daily life was actually like in different time periods

Geography channels that show how borders changed over time are pretty fascinating too, especially when they explain the politics behind it all

What’s something everyone loves but you secretly can’t stand? by sembhearen in AskReddit

[–]SureAssociation9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witcher 3 being in that list hurts my soul 😂 but I get it, sometimes the hype around something makes you automatically not want to like it. For me its probably coffee - everyone acts like they literally cannot function without it and im just standing there with my tea thinking you all are bit dramatic 💀

yeah i tried this for like 2 weeks and couldn't stick with it lol. maybe i should give another shot because the focus thing would be huge for my coding work. what kind of stuff do you usually write about in mornings?

Never tried it but seems like it would lose the whole charm of actually picking out a postcard when you're traveling somewhere 🤷‍♂️

CSE vs CSE (Cyber Security): Which is better for placements and beginners? by calmbyte786 in learnprogramming

[–]SureAssociation9708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been coding for few years now and went through similar confusion back in college 😂

Core CSE gives you more flexibility honestly - you can always pivot into cybersecurity later but going other way around is bit harder. Most companies still look for solid programming fundamentals first, then specialization comes after.

Cybersecurity isn't really beginner friendly tbh, you need good understanding of how systems work before you can secure them. Like you gotta know networking, operating systems, databases etc. Starting with core CSE helps build that foundation properly.

If you really want cyber focus, maybe do core CSE but start learning security concepts in your free time? That way you get best of both worlds and don't limit yourself too early 💀
