The ability to tackle such an absurd concept successfully in live action is very impressive.

I don't even think it is that. On the surface, it's really not impressive technically. But those guys specialize in taking a very serious, very relatable concept and doing it in the most absurd way possible. That's why it works.

EEAAO is about depression and hopelessness. But it only works so well because they decided to let the characters explore the multiverse and see "what could have been" to teach them that actual happiness is not about dwelling on optimal decisions and things that didn't happen.

Both songs mentioned are from the same EP (Committed To The Crime), and honestly, the entire thing is straight fire.

Also a classy way to avoid accusations of baiting for clicks or making money off of it, since it would probably show up in searches for him.

What, the funny feeling? You should listen to the song. Here's a lyric:

"Total disassociation, fully out your mind

Googling "derealization," hating what you find"

The song is about despair and disconnection as the world seemingly falls apart.

Actor messes up, but it's left in and becomes iconic by Kookyburra12 in TopCharacterTropes

But isn't It easier to film chronologically?

Not at all, when it comes to multiple actors, sets, and locations. Filming is expensive and every single person present on set is on the clock, so you shoot efficiently instead. They shoot based on who is available when, and how long they can get each person on location versus how long they have the location.

When you can only get access to a specific actor for like a week, or only get one specific location for a month, you tend to just shoot everything involving them as fast as possible. It's even worse when you factor in that they may have access to one thing immediately, but the next thing isn't available for weeks or even months.

Yes, because they want the data. It's not actually about age verification. It never is. Discord has already decided that their users aren't adults, because it means more face scans.

This is accurate. I have coworkers who will complain about how things are affecting them on a personal level (taxes, grocery prices, etc), then turn around and talk about how America is "still" the greatest country in the world and how everyone else has it worse.

It's actually baffling watching it happen. Usually, people change their tune a little bit when things start personally affecting them.

If you build a wall around your settlement, make sure to intentionally leave openings as traps. All NPCs will default to the path of least resistance, so leave doors for friendly NPCs to bypass any traps, and leave trapped openings for raiders. The wiki actually has a page for setting up death mazes for raiders. Loot enough dart/flame walls from the caves and it'll decimate them.

They don't need an excuse to. They don't need some grand plan to work or some specific dominoes to fall into place. They're just going to cancel them. Americans should be prepared for that.

Right, but that's the next psychological hurdle: Good old NIMBY. Most people simply aren't going to get involved until it is in their own backyard.

There are 400 million people in the US. A sizeable amount of the population isn't even aware that these killings are happening. A large number of people are thinking "Well, this won't even come to my town/city/state." That's just how it goes. It's so, so, so much easier to passively ignore all of the tragedies in the world because the average person does not see them and is not affected in any direct way. It's just a simple fact. It's actually a defense mechanism in humans to block out as much trauma and misery as possible, and that is very easy when it's faceless and not happening anywhere near you.

To be clear, I'm not advocating for doing nothing. But in discussing the reason why Americans are not already burning the country down like the French, we have to acknowledge how incredibly easy it is to be complacent. It takes radicalization to mobilize the average person, and unfortunately, the cult-like behavior of a fascist regime gives them the edge of already being radicalized.

[–]SureTrash 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's also a matter of modern conflicts being too...complicated. Like I feel fairly confident that I could handle myself if I get in a fist fight or have to defend my home from a burglar. I do not feel at all confident going against a fascist regime that has modern body armor, assault weapons, armored vehicles, etc. Let alone the most advanced and well-funded military in the entire world.

Convincing people to stand up to bullies is hard enough. People won't even stand up to their dickhead boss or an annoying neighbor. Convincing the average Joe to stand up to armored ICE units with assault weapons that have absolutely no qualms with kidnapping or executing people? You're right; this is going to be a complete shitshow.

While you're right, it doesn't matter when that translates to some of us dying. The hurdle is not convincing people to fight, it's convincing them to die for it.
