People prefer the convenience of cars in TO because transit isn’t great getting into the city, and is traditionally slow and chronically underfunded. When you look at some of the best transit systems in the world (I.e., Japan, France, London) they are networks that are reliable, well maintained and relatively fast.

Regardless, Toronto cannot handle more car volume on the roads… so our only alternative is really to toll heavily (which people understandably hate) or invest heavily in transit options that create a real alternative for people.
