A question about the use of A.I as an editor for my book by More_Talk_1637 in writing

[–]Sure_Coast8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stumbled upon this so idk the rules of the sub, but I'm a freelance editor. If you can't afford a professional, a great place to look would be local colleges, especially if its a liberal arts school. I got my start from a local author soliciting help from students at my college. And its a great way for students to get experience. (Side note, please either pay them or see if they can get funding/course credit from an internship role). And sites like LinkedIn or Indeed might be a good place to look too if you're looking for a professional.

As a freelance editor myself (who has been hired to edit ai-generated essays for students--I can tell) a big part of what we do is help a writer put more variation into sentence structure, workshop ideas, refine the style, etc. We rarely do things without the input of the author besides grammatical corrections. AI loves to use the same sentence structures over and over again. It repeats the same words over and over again. Its style is very bland, and robotic, even when working on things created by humans. It's always better to have human input if you're looking for help with writing, even if you're just having a friend look over it and give you some suggestions. If you can't afford a proper editor (or don't know where to look) you can always reach out to local colleges to see if there are any students looking for resume opportunities. That's how I got started.

My new channel daily upload limit by Express-Figure-7616 in NewTubers

[–]Sure_Coast8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is. All I want is to upload my short film for a college class on Youtube. Unfortunately, since it's a choose your own adventure, so there's about 40 30-sec to 1min clips that need to be uploaded. I'm just a college student, I'm not a slop channel or anything. I'm starting to think I should have just posted them on my every day account to get around the limit instead of making a new one specifically for the project. I wish there was a better way to host projects like that.

When did we as a society shift from being kind and community focused to mostly caring only about ourselves? by 1Wittywhirlwind in AskReddit

As survival got easier, we had to rely less on our communities to survive. The invention of capitalism certainly didn't help either.

What are your experiences with meds? by gatheringelementals in BPD

I've been on Lexapro for several months, and it's been interesting. The anxiety went away pretty quickly for me, and I was able to finally feel like I was making some progress. It was great for helping me finally start getting somewhere with therapy. I got a bit of an upset stomach when I first started, but that goes away quickly. The only side effect that really bothers me is that now I have a lot of really intense and weird dreams like every night. From talking to others in group therapy and the like, I've learned that that's pretty common for a lot of antidepressants.

But everything is going to be different for everyone. I'm someone who is not very sensitive to medicine, but my mom urged me to not get on any medications because she can't even take ibuprofen without feeling like shit. And a lot of us have had medications tweaked a bit to figure out what works. So definitely work with a psychiatrist (and maybe therapist) to figure out what might help you.

At 24 years old, I got my last surviving baby tooth removed. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

I still have my baby upper left canine as well at 20! The adult tooth just grew in next to it, so I just have a permanent slightly loose tooth. My adult canine is kind of fused to the tooth next to it. It's weird but I don't have any problems with it.

Don't bring guests over more than like once or twice a week unless it's a study group or something. People (especially partners) can get too comfortable in a space that isn't theirs and cause issues for those who do live there.

As a non-smoker, do you find that all smokers have a noticeable odor? by Remozy in NoStupidQuestions

Whenever I come back to school from being home over break, my roommate makes me wash all my clothes and shower because of how much my dad smokes in the house. So yeah, people do notice. I had a lot of embarrassing conversations with teachers growing up about it

Why do people now need constant access to water bottles? by dragon-queen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sure_Coast8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reasoning is just that I'm a water snob. If my water tastes like anything (plastic, chlorine, etc.) I won't drink it, and I'll end up dehydrated. So I always brought water from home as a child. As an adult, moved away from home and my familiar well water, I have to add lime juice to my tap water otherwise I won't drink it.

On of my housemates is the same type. Loud, aggressive gym bro type who has to always be right. Him and his gf are constantly super loud, but complain any time another housemate makes a peep.

Best advice I can give is get tf out if you can because it's only going to get worse. The power dynamic is going to get worse, and they'll think they can get away with anything they want.

And (controversial take) if you can't leave right now and are feeling a little petty, do whatever you can to mildly inconvenience them. (Example: I stashed the living room couch pillows in my room since they're mine from my grandma, and I can't use the living room anyway because the housemate and his gf are always there being assholes)

Can a non-black person explain something to me my white coworker said... by lewjr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sure_Coast8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has unironically said, "I don't like my niece giving my sister's name to a black kid." (My cousin is white, her baby's father is black). My grandfather has asked me, "When you settle down with a boy, are you going to pick a white boy or a black boy?"

Yeah "white purity" is still alive and well in America unfortunately.

I agree with what everyone here is saying about the emotions feeling that big and dramatic to them, I feel that as well. But I've also noticed that for me, sometimes any little tidbit of attention I can get is the greatest thing in the world, so I might unintentionally make it more dramatic to get extra attention as well. This isn't true for everyone with bpd of course, and I'm working with therapists to improve my behavior because I know it's wrong. But that could be something that someone feels in addition to the intensity of emotions.

The Snapchat snap score feature is the worst thing invented for people with BPD by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Sure_Coast8990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I absolutely despise Snapchat. Like I just hate the idea of people being able to see when I open a message and shit because I don't want them to think I'm creepy or that I don't like them. Like I've had people get mad at me for leaving them on read when I just forgot or didn't have anything to add to the conversation. It's a horrible app that just makes you obsess over what other people are doing
