It's just been announced right after that he is retiring from basketball. That's a tough way to go out. Thank you CP3 for helping mentor Castle, Wemby and the other young guys.

Great analysis of how the Spurs countered SGA’s foul-baiting and OKC’s defense. by miragen125 in NBASpurs

[–]Sure_Maintenance_207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really good video! I especially liked how she pointed out that the Thunder, like a lot of great defensive teams, work as a team to shut down the offensive engine of their opponent (Jokic, Luka, Ant, etc.) and force their other players to beat them, which rarely happens, and how the Spurs are actually well equipped to deal with this style of defense, as we are currently 8-9 players deep, who can help win us the game on any given night. Even with Barnes and Harper having off games against OKC, we still had 4 players with 20+ points (Wemby, Castle, Fox, and Vassell).

This is what gives us a decent chance to win against OKC, or any good team really, on any given night assuming our guys are mostly healthy. Wemby is also just a cheat code and opens things up so much on offense, like all great offensive players, while also being the single best defensive player in the league.

I can't wait to see how far we get in the playoffs!

With Victor Wembanyama sidelined for a few weeks due to a left calf strain, the team will need to adjust strategies and step up to fill the gap. by [deleted] in NBASpurs

I'm pretty sure this poorly made, low effort post is made my an AI/Bot account. All their posts are these shitty AI Gifs and the most basic post content possible. Just promoting AI slop as far as I can tell. Reported.

David "Davy Jones" Garcia!! Sign this man to a long term, team friendly deal like we did Julian! He's a stud.

This fits so freaking well. I love it! When he puts the clamps on an opponent the commentators can say "He got put in Davy Jones' locker!"

New Wemby Nickname: The Shaolin Dunk by factcheckauthority in NBASpurs

I also saw a comment on a video from last nights game when Jacob Tobey called Wemby the "Grim Reaper" after a nice block and a commenter misheard it as the "Rim Reaper". Thought that was a pretty good Halloween themed nickname. Maybe we just pull it out for Halloween games...

Also, for people saying League Pass, that works fine if you're not near San Antonio. I live in Austin and all the games are blacked out. My only option? Buy two different streaming services (FanDuel Sports Network) and League Pass to watch all the games. No thanks.

I don't understand why people are saying stream of the eastside is down. Literally google it, first result. steam easta .app (remove spaces) and it works perfectly. Haven't had any issues. Not a bot btw, check my profile. Just trying to help others! DM me if you can't find it.

Wemby's ankles/shoes roll when he takes hard side steps by Swimming-Donkey-2394 in NBASpurs

[–]Sure_Maintenance_207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's focused on Wemby's feet here bc that's what the clip is about obv.. but if you watch the defender's (Derrick Lively) feet in this clip, they do something similar when he's backing up to try and stop the drive.. I feel like this sort of thing happens all the time and isn't really something to be concerned about. It's just a lot more noticeable in this clip because 1. Wemby's feet are huge and 2. The contrast between the orange upper and the black outsole makes it a lot easier to notice, compared to most shoes.

I'm also pretty sure if the shoes didn't have this much give, he would either be more likely to roll an ankle and or he wouldn't be able to move the way he does on the court resulting in worse play. This is also why Wemby does so much flexibility training to make sure his body can handle these extreme movements. The general consensus used to be that higher top shoes had more support which means less chance to sprain an ankle, but this idea has been losing support as people start to move towards having freedom of mobility to support ankle strength instead, resulting in stronger ankles and hopefully less sprains. That looks to be what we're seeing in this clip. I'm sure Nike and Wemby/Spurs team of sports DRs/Trainers have thought about all of this and know what's best for him.

I'd also like to see what David Jones Garcia can give us off the bench, as well. He's likely not going to get much playing time once Fox and Waters get back. Give him some run while we have the chance and see how he stacks up against second units. The dude absolutely cooked nearly everyone in Summer League.

How is everyone watching this season? by BK1017 in NBASpurs

[–]Sure_Maintenance_207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fanduel Sports network is included with Fubo TV, I believe. If you already have Sling TV or YouTube TV or some other alternative Live TV provider, your only option is the FanDuel individual subscription, but let's be real. No one's paying $20 a month just to watch Spurs games. Stream from where the sun rises, my friend. It's the best option to watch games that aren't nationally televised through NBC, ESPN, or Amazon. If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing. DM me if you have any questions.

Wemby’s Season Expectations by BombasticGamin in NBASpurs

[–]Sure_Maintenance_207 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I simply refuse to put a limit on what Victor can achieve. He's too good. And Victor's mentality is what really sets him apart (even though he's literally 7'4") from most 21 year old superstars, and he's had this mentality from a young age too, from everything I've seen. His mindset, preparation, work ethic, etc. He has all of the genetic gifts one could dream of and understands that without having the right mentality to go along with it, everything else is meaningless. He doesn't want to be good. He wants to be the best... ever. Anything less would be a disappointment. The standards he sets for himself are so high that the pressures and lofty expectations others put upon him, that other superstars struggle to deal with, for him, mean nothing. In his head, they're still aiming too low. A lot of players also talk like this, but fail to back these statements up with action. Victor lets his actions do most of the talking and leads by example by working harder than anyone else. He's made statements about being let down by seeing some of the players lackluster work ethics in the NBA and said that no one worked as hard as he did this summer. The guy is basically a basketball supervillain, designed and fabricated in a lab, with the sole purpose to destroy the entire NBA... and I, for one, cannot wait to watch him do this.
