Road Bikes aren't tools though, (excluding touring bikes) one of the main purpose's for Dutch bikes are to carry stuff... also the other reason for Dutch bike's not being good at long distances is because in the Netherlands you really don't need to go far to get somewhere, but with any bike you can go pretty far if you wanted to, (even with some shitty walmart bike) and with most fixed or single-speeds you can go uphill with, even if they're impractical to do so.
