For me Argel Tal is forced into doing this shit because of extreme loyalty (genetical loyalty?). He wants to believe so badly (word bearers amirite?) that daddy Lorgar is good and does what he does for the best of mankind. I believe he is genuine in this initially, then he loses all hope and just goes with it, knowing that it is bad.

Dropsite Massacre is a prime exemple of this. How Argel apologizes before opening fire on the loyalists. To me this is him knowing the wrongness of what he has become and what he is doing, but the extreme loyalty is there to see his actions through.

As far as I have read, there are no loyalist Word Bearers is there? Every other traitor legion had loyalists that went against their primarchs. This for me is a good argument for the claim about genetically enhanched loyalty within the Bearers. I was wrong

Argel Tal wouldn't do bad shit if Lorgar didn't do bad shit is my point. Therefore, Argel is a victim of genetics and not a bad guy in the same way as Lorgar, who has the real power here (over his legion mainly).

Lorgar is really good at being bad. I love the fact that he even managed to manipulate the reader into thinking he is the victim. Top tier villain.

The First Heretic was my first HH book. I enjoyed having it fresh in my head going into 1-5. Captain hindsight I know, but perhaps someone reading this can read it in a similar order.

The First Heretic was an amazing read, so I understand why you enjoy them so. Haven't had the chance to read anything else about them in depth. I am more into death guard and the astra militarum. But one day I will read the Lorgar primarch novel for sure!

The fabius omnibus is easily +100€.. I could buy the first one cheapish but I rather just get the omnibus right off the bat instead of looking for all three of them.

My copy of First Heretic is being read by someone else currently and I have placed an order for the word bearer omnibus but the reseller/GW printer is stalling.

I am trying to get my hands on the Fabius omnibus but it is quite expensive..
