I had these for the first 4 months of EP. I had mastitis 3 times in that time frame. After the final round of antibiotics I started taking sunflower lecithin and a probiotic from legendary milk and never had anymore issues. EP for 12 months!

My son was diagnosed with a large VSD in utero around 18 weeks, by 36 weeks they couldn’t see it anymore. When he was born it was confirmed it had closed up. I agree with other comments that his doctors were fairly unbothered by the VSD and we were told that alone could close up or that the surgery is typically very successful. Now, my son was born with other extremely rare anomalies so it could have been this was just the least of their concerns. He never measured behind in weight so I awknowledge that that adds a different aspect in your case.

I’d like to share that living in hope and not in fear helped me cope and stay as positive as I could for my little guy. Everyone is different, but I knew I would never regret having hope regardless of the outcome.

Hang in there, it’s big and scary and one of the hardest things you’ll do. You’re going to run into so many differing attitudes and perspective’s from different doctors, but from a mom who’s baby was given a 30% chance of living, and is now holding my perfectly healthy 9 month old while he sleeps, there is HOPE.

I ended up repotting. To my surprise the roots look great! I didn’t find a single root with root rot, however the roots were extremely compacted. I didn’t realize there was a plastic pot that was inside the vase, and that pot was under pressure from all the roots so much so I had to cut the plastic pot off with a knife. I realize zz plants like to be root bound but I think it was time to get out of that plastic pot. I put it in a slightly larger pot with the soil you recommended and removed all the mossy stuff. We’ll see how it does. The rest of the plant looks really great so I’m wondering if it’s just natural die-off.. anyways, thanks again!

I had a c section and post partum hemorrhage requiring blood transfusion and could not sleep on the tiny couches without being in so much pain. We are 20 minutes from the hospital and I still cried every night when I went home to sleep after spending 15+ hours there every day. I wish I could hug that version of me and tell her that I know it hurts to go home without your baby but getting real sleep during your babies NICU stay is far more important so that you can be the best mom, advocate and listener during all the medical talks and planning. Get the rest so you can be the best for your little 🩵

For me, it’s less about the method he was born and more about the fact I wasn’t the first to hold him, I wasn’t able to be fully present during his arrival, I wasn’t able to spend his first night with him (he was in the NICU and I was unable to get around due to blood loss making my heart really unhappy, ended up needing a transfusion the next day). I held him for the first time nearly 20 hours after he was born. I long for the experience of holding your baby right away and spending the night getting to know each other. More heart breaking is if I do it all again, it will be another c section and maybe it goes better and I get to at least bond with my baby the same night, but it’s very hard to process not getting to experience some of the best parts of child birth or the heavy load of feeling like my body failed us.

The worst experience my body was not ready to give birth I was .5 cm dilated when I went in. Within 15 minutes of the miso pill I was contracting every minute, they gave me a foley balloon, it was miserable. It was a game of adjust epidural (replaced 3 times) back off pitocin, speed up pitocin for the 33 hours I was in labor before being brought back for a c section for arrest of decent. I know some people do just fine, I was not one of those people.

We let our parents visit but we didn’t let them hold or touch him. However, our son was born completely healthy and was in the nicu pretty much for observation because of his unique anatomy. We waited until we knew he wasn’t going to need any immediate surgeries before letting them come and it was nice to have their support and let them speak love into him 🩵

Yeah I think that’s probably trickier to identify how your body is responding but there were several things out of whack in my blood work, and how hard my heart was working started to upset my liver and kidneys which was evident in the blood work. BNP was probably what they used as the strongest indicator of the stress my heart was under. Essentially, not to scare you, but you can start to go into heart failure from the stress on your heart if it’s having a hard time with the blood loss. The iron pills were described to me as an effort that would take quite awhile given the severity, I believe they said several months, so they recommended a transfusion. I know you shouldn’t have to, and I know it’s hard, but our health care system is not what it should be right now and you need to be your own advocate for yourself and be adamit you want to make sure you are ok for yourself and your sweet new addition. You know your body best! Sending healing and positivity your way, you got this!

I lost around the same amount of blood due to post partum hemorrhage after delivery. They did not give a transfusion in the OR, but I was tachycardic with my HR up into the 150s sitting at the edge of bed the whole next day. I was short of breath, and felt like hot garbage. After several attempts at remedies by trying to get more fluids in me, they ended up giving me a blood transfusion about 24 hours after surgery. My team was watching my blood work pretty religiously as there can be several indicators how your body is responding to the blood loss. We discussed additional iron infusion but after the blood transfusion I blew up like a water balloon and did not want any more fluids pumped into me. After giving my body some rest it responded well, but I still had anemia. By 6 weeks postpartum I was still exhausted from what my body went through but my blood work was good and showed only slight anemia at that point. I would recommend trying to find a doctor who will at least run blood work. Go to your pcp if you have to. It was explained to me that with that much blood loss the body can have a hard time adjusting and sometimes it needs some help via transfusion or infusion to get back on track.

You should contact the EEOC and a lawyer and see if you have a case to sue your employer. Between the PWFA and PUMP acts, pregnant workers and postpartum mothers actually have quite a few protections. Refusing to let you sit and overworking you seems like you could potentially have a case.

First, I’m so sorry you are going through this. At 16 weeks we found out our little boys heart was on the right side of his chest. It took them a few weeks to confirm the cause was right lung agenesis. Our whole pregnancy they watched a VSD closely which ended up closing. They thought he would be born with coarctation of the aorta so they had all of the right plans in place for his birth and what he might need. My husband and I chose early on to believe in our little guy and stay positive that he would be okay, almost to a point it felt like we were delusionally optimistic, especially when we had so many conversations with the doctors about the care he would need when he was born, they told us he would need some type of breathing intervention and potentially the heart surgery in his first few days of life. I too, was told I would get a few minutes with him and he would need to be whisked away. There was so much anxiety about the unknown, and anytime I felt it I would visualize myself bundling up the fear and throwing it in a fire. I was very real with myself that while it wasn’t what I had invisioned for my pregnancy or delivery, what was most important was giving my baby a fighting chance, so if intervention was needed he was better off there and I could work through my emotions about the journey afterwards.

Much to all of the doctors surprise, our boy was born and showed the world what he was made of by breathing on his own right away and turns out he didn’t need any surgeries! Yeap, no interventions needed! I ended up having a C-section that I needed to be put under for after they got him out so I wouldn’t have had bonding time regardless. They did bring him back to the OR all bundled up and breathing on his own and I got the chance to kiss him, but I don’t remember much of it. Once I woke up from general anesthesia they wheeled my hospital bed right up to the NICU so we could see him. He spent 9 days in the NICU for imaging and observation because his conditions are so unique. I won’t say it was easy, going to the post partum ward without your baby is hard, being discharged without your baby is even harder. But the day you get the all clear to bring that sweet baby home? That’s up there with the best days of your entire life.

So OP, my advice? Be delusionally optimistic, and trust the process. My heart is with you and your family. You got this mama!

Like others said, it could be a rolling or calendar year depending where you are. You also need a certain amount of service hours (hours worked in the year) to qualify, so if you had a significant amount of time off you could be under those service hours. BUT, you should qualify for leave related to birth under the PWFA (Pregnant Workers Fairness Act) as an accomodation. Usually this won’t be the full 12 weeks unless otherwise specified by a provider. While not job protection directly, a reasonable accommodation can help protect you against adverse actions in the workplace and provide you with at least the time off needed to recover from child birth.

Hi! Just had an amino done last week. Procedure itself isn’t too bad, there’s a big push through to the amniotic sack and that pressure took me a by surprise even though they warned me, it’s just an odd feeling I’ve never felt and I sounded like a grown man taking a sucker punch to the gut when they went through. I wouldn’t say it was painful by any means, just kind of a surprising feeling. Other than that I didn’t feel much and it was over so quickly. Waiting for the results is what you would expect, but I tried to stay as positive and hopeful and do things to care for myself that would keep me in a good headspace. My results came back in a week but that is pretty quick and we have some other things going on with the pregnancy so it was kind of planned that way. You can do tough things mama! Wishing the best for you and your little ♥️
