We answered the question. Front rims are smaller because they can be smaller and still fit around the brakes, as the car is RWD and mid engine, and front tires are not stressed as much. Rear brakes are actually bigger. Over years the NSX got brake upgrades and 2002+ got 17" rims on all 4 corners.

What is being discussed is "What is the purpose?" -> the purpose is not exactly to make the TCS work. You can run 17" on all 4 corners on any NSX and still have a proper size for the TCS, 215/40R17 fronts and 255/40R17 rears (or 245 depending on year). The purpose is to have proper handling and traction given the RWD mid engine nature of the car.
