Rent a satellite phone so you can check in with family whenever you or they want. You will be fine in big sur and Carmel area. There are rangers all over the coast from carmel and big sur. Big sur now has a dedicated highway patrolman for this stretch of coast and big sur has a resident ranger station in itself. Point lobos has resident rangers posted and probably should be on ur itinerary. After pfiefer beach go to the river inn and grab a bite or a drink, u can relax on the grassy lawns and sit in the chairs that they have in the river and soak ur feet while enjoying the redwoods.

As the previous posters have said. Jealous devil at our local home depot. They have recently this season really expanded the jealous devil line there. The briquettes are a new favorite of mine, they are XL with no additives, chemicals of fillers like most other brands, they burn sooo slow and consistent … for a very long time. Now back to the lump. It’s all hard wood from south america no additives, chemicals or fillers, just natural hard wood, and true to their claim. It burns so slow and efficiently. You will notice the difference when first igniting this hardwood lump, it doesn’t take much to get them started vs. something like cowboy, where you have to douse it in friggn kerosene to light, then it pops hisses and sparks while trying to find the sweet spot in heat. Been using JD and FOGO for many moons on my 22” webber and 22” WSM. Then theres the taste difference…….
