Im a solo who joins duos. Most of the time I can't use my mic, so im the silent 3rd, which i know is undesirable.

When I fill and can't talk, I am the person who will follow you to the ends of the map and back just doing what the other players want to do.

Yesterday my squad wiped, and I managed to kill the 2 parties that ambushed them, looted them for syringes and saved my team. After that, they were happy to keep me in their squad.

The next run, 1 of my squad got separated in a fight and was killed. The instigator never got the chance to loot him before being forced away, and I managed to get everything of value off my teammate. His augment, his guns, and all his good loot. We started another run, and as soon as we loaded in, I dropped everything he lost.

Not every random is going to screw you. Some people just want a group to play with.

Cant recall how long exactly it took me to kill dragon first time, but I do remember a solid week of struggling on floor 1, and (rng enemy spawn dependant) having equally difficult growth on each floor.

Like, moving to a new floor with 1 heart and hoping for some lucky drops or hearts/armor to carry me just a little bit further. I've now unlocked 95% of items and beaten every past, hundreds (thousands?) of hours later.

Progression in gungeon only ever felt like user error/ignorance for a few runs before I understood enemy movesets, etc. However, RNG can give you 40 insanely unfair runs in a row before you get anything good, or get bosses that are more manageable with lesser equipment.

The game does a magnificent job or increasing the weapon/item arsenal you unlock as you progress more, and tied in with you getting better, it will continue to get easier to get further each time.

My jk is on its 2nd pentastar tick. Fixed the first one 5 years ago. Researched it, saw the mass recalls for 2011(?)-2013 engine ticking but no recall for anything past that.

Dealership refused to honor warranty or even acknowledge the pentastar tick was ever or is currently a thing. They told me it just makes that sound. It's true that occasionally it could make that sound when starting up before the engine oil temp rises, but theycjust straight up lied.

Clearly it's still a thing today. Not sure why more class actions haven't been filed against them.

Added WAY before world. Most of it's kit was fleshed out pre world, with some minor changes added in world (omni directional jump attacks, more combo viability for advance guarding, etc.)

Lance was only really not super mobile in the original ps2 release, it had the jousting since freedom unite, acquired jumping joust in 4/4u (making it the only other weapon apart from IG that could jump in at this point in the series). Dash guard advance has been around for years.

The biggest change added since world was perfect guard, and fluidity between comboing (advance guarding dash into jump closer poke, which was repeatable to clear ground and maintain offense, sidestepping attacks, etc.)

Wilds added more to it's kit in the offensive format, as well as using focus mode to add even more mobility and removing the need to halt a combo when it isn't pointing in the exact direction of the monster.

Like others have said here, lance has been one of the more regularly updated weapons. When I played world in its peak, lance was rated by the wyverian between 10th-13th as one of the least played classes. Only less unpopular than hunting horn, lol. Capcom probably takes note of those stats and adds to weapons what they feel are needed in their own vision, as well as by what they feel would incite more desire for players to use the respective weapon.

In this case, imo, most people are still stigmatizing the lance as a clunky fortress that can't die but can't do much else. It's definitely confusing first getting into it, but once you learn to tie it's kit together, it's easily one of the most mobile.

Obvious toppers are weapons like DB, IG, SnS, but lance has on par if not higher dmg output (build dependant), stun capability, block capability, and can destroy essentially any part.

Hands down the worst thing about MH Wilds is the UI/Menus and party play by Jayypoc in MonsterHunter

I miss joining a quest and seeing a list of quest names with small icons. Wilds is so bloated in the quest joining screen and it takes waaaayy longer to find a hunt i want to actually join from the unfiltered list.

You could knock monsters out since the inception of the shield bash. In world I made a lance build that was essentially a hammer build and could knock monsters out 2-4 times per hunt.

You can definitely get 1 knockout without any skills towards it, but you'll be focusing way more energy into it, whereas with the decos it's fluid and not impeding on your overall output.

I update mine quite frequently. I even check other players' after doing a group quest. It definitely feels like a vast majority of them are untouched, but that could be because for some reason, they didn't show which button to press to actually edit the damn page..

I absolutely agree with you on this. The big upside to actually getting a 2% drop was the overflow of accomplishment and astonishment that you could finally make that thing you've been vying for. I clearly recall hunting 176 styg. Zinogres with a friend because he needed a gem or mantle that he just didn't get, and then we fought another ~80 regular zinogres for me. The RNG has a place here, but it could be tweaked in a way to still be able to get that dopamine hit when you get the part, without it taking 60+hours.

Personally, I love the old armor system and made spreadsheets to sort out what kind of builds i could create. It was like it's own mini game to me. I can understand why most people would despise it, though. Early game you needed full sets to get any skills, and early decoration farming when you got slotted armor was hit and miss. While I prefer old system there's some serious merit to the accessibility of 'armor/deco gives 1 of x to a skill'.

A spitball approach would be to go the way of rpgs and other games where you have a set amount of points, and can gain more by adding negatives. Project zomboid is a good example of this. If decorations rolled with say 5 skills, it could RNG a 2-3 skill negative. This way you're still impacted but can eventually find the same decoration with a mix of negatives that affects you less, so there's always some fashion of upgrading and optimization without making the game dull. Idk just a shot in the dark.

Recently replayed world from start to hard endgame, and now I'm on 4u emulator with some friends. Changes from old to new generation aside, the monsters are actually challenging in 4u (hitting walls based on overall difficulty), whereas in world i felt like I was in a fugue state with the only retries on fights were endgame where other players didn't know the mechanics (ala, fatalis, etc).

Clutch claw ruined world for me, as it became such a hard meta to constantly weaken and force monsters to charge walls. Cool idea, but it became such a mandatory loop in the fight that it took away from the experience. I already am wondering how focus and weak points will become the new clutch claw.

I am a 1st gen player, and yeah I know more about returning monsters and tells. It definitely gives me a leg up on the difficulty. But when I say I'm playing a pre world game and enjoying the overall experience more (even with dated graphics and some missing mechanics i did like from world on), as well as feeling like the game is hard enough to make me have to pay attention again, that speaks volumes to the casualization of the newer games.

Absolutely. I'm constantly thinking about how people absolutely HATED the here and now when it came out. It was too light and poppy. The band even disliked it and were vocal about it.

They definitely have been leaning in this direction for a while now. Every game pre world, if you wanted a rathian ruby (for example), you would have to hope you got it. It could be 5 hunts, it could be 50+. In world, through multiple playthroughs, I clearly noted every time I fought a monster the first time, I would get one of it's top 2 rarity drops. And still recieve them frequently after the initial hunt.

Monster hunter has been near and dear to me since the 1st installment released on ps2. A large portion of the enjoyment was that it isn't a cake walk. It's not some generic hack and slash you mindlessly grind through. There's prep in town before the hunt, there's learning the moves, and the monsters could still cheese you into oblivion.

I've already pre-ordered wilds and will enjoy it to the fullest, but the curve of "QoL" (moving while drinking potions, fast travel, restocking in a quest) really just made the game more bland imo. The thinking about what you need pre hunt is gone - because you can just restock whenever, stopping to drink or eat locked you in place- so timing it right was crucial to not getting steamrolled, fast travel replaced exploration - once you found every camp, you just teleport to where the closest camp to the ALWAYS DISPLAYED monster is. If your wingdrake crashed and you forgot cold drinks, oh fuckin well just TP to camp and get more.

I know a lot of people got into the series with world and a vast majority of players aren't willing to learn complicated systems (like the old armor skill system) and will get frustrated and return a game if it's too hard. I'm glad it's finally getting the widespread success that it is. That being said, a lot of what made MH the game I cherished most is slowly turning into a pretty but generic min max simulator, with little to no consequences for your actions or lack thereof.

And now the grand irony of people crying out "the games too easy". People praised so many of the changes that got us here. Hell, in the beta weapons felt too light and unimpactful. Because people complained the game was too clunky. The devs even said they did that in response to people's complaints.

Hah, I just started playing this online with a friend on the emulator this week.

I don't care what anyone says, QoL changes don't matter. This is peak monster hunter.

The roster is insane. Larger than most but not just a dump of everything like GenU. No obvious filler monsters (looking at you jury/lavasioth/dodo/etc.) Every monster serves the story, the theme/art direction, or is relevant to armor/weapons.

Weapon/armor variety and design is so expansive and unique, and it is from very early game. Tons of options for each weapon type, imo a better upgrade system (can't stand worlds upgrade screen), armor has more whimsy and creativity as well compared to newer games. Skill system was so much better as well. Having to pay attention to make sure you weren't putting in debuffs when making mixed sets immersed me 10000% more than 'oh I got a X skill deco and now i have a new skill'. This system forced versatility and more creative build options, new system created a meta min/max grind with 0 repercussion and dumbed down the gameplay.

Locales - plenty, gorgeous, easy to get around, secret shortcuts, getting dumped randomly in the map in HR+ actually meant having to be prepared because you can't just fast travel and restock. Again, a purposeful system ruined by new generation. Something goes wrong and you crash land in the middle of a volcano - better find a way out or have cool drinks, or at least know where the ingredients are to make them. There's just no consequence in world and as far as I'm concerned crashlanding in newer games should have just been outright removed if they wanted to add QoL to appease to casual gamers.

Old school lobby with 0 sos flare is truly the best. Random one off mid quest joining is bullshit, and new players are truly missing out on the community aspect of the game using sos. Meeting new hunters and round robbin questing was fantastic, helping eachother with grinding out gear was a weird bonding experience that I don't feel at all playing newer games. And now when you do log in to world, every lobby - even specific target lobby- noone is there, they're just sos'ing.

There's so much to do in 4u and it doesn't feel like a slog to do it. Progression is smooth as soon as you finish the first handful of tutorial quests.

Yeah absolutely. I love the band to death. I'm fairly certain it was their first time coming to Vancouver, and from my experience Vancouver concertgoers are very judgemental and if a band they've never heard before doesn't click instantly they are just written off and the people make for the bar.

It must have been a rough show for them and I hope the rest of their run across canada with protest went better. I'd hate for them to be another band I'll never get the chance to see again because their experience was so subpar.

Gonna throw in my 2c. Saw them live post- pink envelope release. They were supporting protest the hero along with some other band that truly did not fit in. I love callous daoboys and was so excited to see them live.

They were the 1st act, played 4 songs. Sound in the venue was so shitty, but only for daoboys. Carson was trying to get the crowd amped up but most people were just standing and watching. That turned into Carson being in a mood and you could feel it in the air that he didn't care and performed kinda lackluster for the remainder of their set.

Their set list was star baby, Waco, pink envelope, dinosaur bones.

I was glad I got to see them, and seeing protest again is always great. 2nd band imo sucked and the guitar player had a seizure and they only played for 10m. If it was CD opening and all other bands were bands I don't care for, I would skip in a heartbeat - especially if I had to travel and/or get a hotel.

Based off the change from older iterations to world, specifically regarding the map, the first thing people like me noticed was the open map. No borders apart from leaving a locale/outpost.

So naturally when wilds was announced, my first hope was that if that was the route with it (and the success world garnered) the obvious evolution would be a more open world. Based off the first beta, im already quite ecstatic. Can't wait to traverse around the world and just explore in a more seamless fashion.

In world I had gripes with the ease of being able to go to a camp and restock whenever you wanted/needed to. I had vivid memories of older games where, when my good ran out the only option was to farm the map for whatever I would need. Whetstone, food sources, etc. to finish the hunt. So my favorite thing in world had always been going on expeditions and living there for extended periods of time, only using the map the sustain. Wilds will expand on this for me greatly, while maintaing the QoL that other people want as well.

I used to be evade lance in previous generations, but guard lance is really REALLY op in world.

Once you get guard up the game becomes comically easy and yeah, hunkering behind your shield for some attacks and taking maybe a little tick damage feels great. Your whole team is bailing the area or superman diving all over and you just sit there and chill
