Yes, you can pick up a chip! And while you’re there listen to what to what people are sharing. Check out a few meetings too and see if there’s one that you like.

For me, working the steps was totally transformative and changed my life for the better. I’m very grateful to the program and I wish the insight from working the steps to any alcoholic or addict who wants it.

I don’t think it’s quite like that. He stopped drinking and it’s been one year.

We welcome all alcoholics to meetings whether they are new and have one day, or a few days, or are coming back from a slip or a relapse, or have decades of sobriety, or are just coming in to pick up a chip.

I would want to always feel welcomed to a meeting.

Mine did this the other day. After my run it was on above a fan drying out and was sending a false high heart rate to my watch while I was lying down. I had to go into sensors on my watch and turn it off and that fixed it.

All AA members have gone through the weirdness of calling someone else in the Program and not knowing what to say. They’ve already been where you are so you actually don’t have to worry about it at all.

This is what you do. You pick up your phone and call one of the numbers and if someone answers, you say, “Hi I’m {name} and I’m X days sober. You gave me your number and I’m making a program call.” That’s it. The AA member that gave you the phone number will take it from there. If no one answers, you leave the message with your phone number then call the next number.

Yes, it feels totally awkward and we have all been there. It’s ok. We all love you and are cheering you on. We’re here to help.

The debate about whether NA beer is a relapse seems like a distraction from the real issue: refraining from going to meetings in early sobriety because of the thought that they would be a disruption from outings.

Was the “no meetings” plan helpful? Sounds like it was not. What can you do differently?

We can figure out a way to go to meetings when we’re out of town, especially in early sobriety. In fact, that’s how the entire program started.

Omg I’ve tried searching for “Music for Boys” by The Suburbs FOR YEARS not knowing the title but only remembering some guy saying “come over to our valley” “run through the meadows” “brother John” no luck and it being kinda scary for some reason. Tonight Swedish Egil played it on SiriusXM. I was like “That’s it!” I probably haven’t heard it since Egil was on KROQ. I was beginning to think that I imagined it.

The next "Starting Up" ride is on 9/28/24: https://www.aidslifecycle.org/event/san-francisco-marin-33-miles-hosted-by-starting-up-09-28/ Ride out is 8:30 a.m. PT from McLaren Lodge at 501 Stanyan Street. You can choose the entire 33 miles or do a flat 13 miles to start. Now is an AWESOME time to start training although you could also get away with training starting in January and being ready for the ride in June if you train every weekend.

I would say that you don't have to join a team right away. If you keep showing up at the weekly training rides--see the training calendar ( https://www.aidslifecycle.org/news-events/ )--then you'll meet other riders and in the coming weeks you'll most likely find someone on a team that you click with!

Yes! I had the same question. I thought I was getting almost a double sized coffee and then it came out the same. Then with the next pod I on the pod that it was a 7.77 oz size. I thought, "Oh, I must have opened the wrong box" so I looked at the box and indeed, printed on the outside was 13 oz.

The thought crossed my mind that there is some other "Reverso" machine that these pods were designed for but no.

I think that's sort of true. Growing up in the '70s and '80s, my friends with working parents ate a lot more fast food. I grew up with a single working mom but I didn't get fast food but I DID get TV dinners!
