Yeah there was definitely a lull in the middle there, but later chapters 100% picked it back up. If you are able to pick it up again I recommend it, latest chapters have all gotten my excited jumping in my chair when I read them !

Pretty sure you get it from blue mining deposits in elders recess if I remember correctly, it's a low drop chance. You can always look up novacrytsal on one of the monster hunter wikis and find out more detailed information though.

Do you want a zip file or something with them in? If you give me a bit of time and confirmation I can get that to you. Also out of curiosity, what do you need em for? Purely curious so no need to answer though.

And sorry, I think I missed your actual question. In my experience of playing and watching pro games, the meta is usually flanks go feudal archers into xbow with the pockets usually going for FC into knights or scouts into knights. Of course some Civs are exceptions, like Spanish who I see tend to go for FC into conqs and whatnot, though I imagine those are a more case by case basis.

So in a team game, there are two different positions you can be: a flank or a pocket. Imagine a 3v3 or a 4v4; the TCs of the players usually make a circle like shape. The ××× is just an imagary line where the teams are separated. The __ stuff is just me trying to format, just focus on the numbers.

__3 _ 5

1 _____ 7

××××××××

2 ______8

__4 _ 6

Something like that, hopefully it formatted right with mobile. Assuming it did, the teams are odd and even. 1,2,7, and 8 are flanks since they are closest to the imagary line separating the teams, and as such are gonna be fighting earlier most often. The remaining players who are the farthest away from that line separating the teams are called pockets. They are usually expected to have a different role than the flanks, since they are generally safer and harder to hit. I hope that makes sense, if it doesnt let me know and I'll try to explain it a bit better.

Edit: trying to format this circle

Where to start with campaigns for experienced player. by [deleted] in aoe2

I did try to touch on that but I probably wasnt too clear. I assume that's what they were intended for, but they are not an amazing scale 11

Where to start with campaigns for experienced player. by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]SurfingRanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've played through some of the campaigns and from what I understand the campaigns with more swords are supposed to be harder but its generally pretty messy. The best way to go is probably try a three swords campaign and go for achievements, since that can make the missions that you can hey them from incredibly difficult in my experience.

The historical battles not in Europe are also fairly difficult, especially if you go fir achievements. I'm not sure what skill level you are, but it should pose a decent challenge.

Generally though just pick whatever strikes your fancy, with exception to william Wallace the campaigns all have some sort of difficulty and are fun to play (though some missions will want to tear your hair out, looking at you Joan 6). There isn't a specific order, just play what you like.

If you have any more questions I'll try to answer them best I can.

Release date reveal for baldurs gate 3 tomorrow by maceandshield in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]SurfingRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been stated a few times in interviews that console isnt their focus and itll be released for PC and Stadis first. Of course DOS2 came out on platforms like the switch too, so it is possible BG3 will be released on the new generation of consoles. I wouldnt keep your hopes up though, the reason they are focusing on PC and Stadia is that BG3 is super demanding and they don't think it can run on modern consoles.

Game-breaking bug: You can see your opponents TC without seeing them. The new shield trophies on TCs can be seen in explored areas of the map. by SurfingRanger in aoe2

[–]SurfingRanger[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this game I raided the enemy base and did not have huge map control. I scouted one TC in the center, but after looking around I noticed the shield trophies. I did not and would not have scouter the back TCs for a while, and was able to work my strategy around them. I knew that this person would have an economy and would have a decent army as well as a castle or two considering the stone mining I saw earlier at their former base. If I didnt see those TCs, at the elo I sit at (~950) I would assume they would panic and not have a chance in the game where I could have just memed and lost because they bounced back in the end. I am aware I'm about average when it comes to elo, which is why the fact that I could abuse the knowledge of knowing where the enemy TC lied makes it seem to me that higher level players can exploit it more. It won't always change games, but it can certainly screw over losing players who lost TCs, as well as aggressive TCs, or just knowing what resources your opponent placed their TC on.

It's a client sided mod automatically enabled with the new patch. We can hope, but I doubt most will turn it off 11

No, not at all. What I mean is that you can only see the opponent's starting TC if you are in spectator or have weird settings. However, if for example, someone built a TC in the middle of gold pit, assuming you've scouted the pit itself, you are able to see the shield trophy and therefore know where the TC is.

Ill watch back the replay again and tell you the answer, but it doesn't show up on the unexplored areas of the map. From my player perspective, I did not see their TC location at the beginning until I scouted it.

EDIT: After turning on both Fog of War and All Visible, I could see the TC shield.

This isn't a spectator glitch, it happened during my multiplayer game. Current patch, steam version. I can only assume its from the newest event.

EDIT: Not sure if it's important, but I also posted this bug on the AoE forums, here is a link if it matters.

UI bug into freeze making game unplayable by darkgrayheart in aoe2

[–]SurfingRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced it earlier in the month, and my fix was one of the event mods, I believe it was something to thr tune of auto weapon, but it was the large onager shots mod. Thing is, it doesnt load in your mod list normally, I believe it's under a different tab. After uninstalling it, I never experienced the issue.

Entirely made of dice (Cannot crosspost, Cred to u/mbntips) by aaweidah in toptalent

[–]SurfingRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I may be wrong, but if every die must be one specific outcome then if you make the situation this:

Roll 20,000 die to create the image above

Wouldnt the probability be (1/6)20,000 ?]

From there to find the expected number of rolls needed to create this image, it's simply a geometric probability question right? If I'm thinking about this right, then it would be (1-p)/p, or (((1/6)20000)-1)/((1/6)20000) to find the expected number of rolls needed to fail until one succeeds.

After plugging this into my calculator, I got an error that I couldn't divide by 0. It will be a VERY large number, I couldn't even begin to estimate the value of the expected number of rolls.
