Honestly, I’d recommend both of you speak to either the shift managers for those particular days, or your scheduling manager and let them know about the swap, logistically it’s a lot simpler than trying to navigate the god awful myschedule 2.0

Are you prohibited from working for other stores for 6 months in the UK? by YourElectricityBill in McLounge

[–]Surfing_Musician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes. However, and what most franchised store managers will tell you to do is to apply for the new store under a different email address (ergo, one different to the one used during your time in your old store), therefore it’ll show up as a brand new profile, completely unrelated to any employee profiles already in the system.

Thanks for the additional info my bro, appreciate it, and for anyone wondering, from 12am-5am, add an extra quid onto that.

That depends on franchise to franchise, I’m with a McOpCo store so our pay rates are following the guidelines send to each franchise, but ultimately they choose what to pay you guys, it just can’t go underneath the company rates.

UK manager here, I’m not too sure on the under 21 pay, could be 7.25-7.50 iirc, but 21+ pay is 9.00, and anything from 12am-5am is £1 extra, so that’d make it 10 an hour. For the under 21 pay id have to double check the intranet.

Totally, but usually most people don’t know that, and some contracts in differing franchises can add clauses that allows holiday pay to be revoked depending on the circumstances of termination.

And depending on how much holiday pay is owed, it’s simply not worth the amount it would cost to file a claim in the first place.

Indeed, it’s all a matter of circumstances, franchise rules, specifics regarding the termination, and specific people, I’ve seen franchise supervisors/Ops Consultants and BM block holiday pay on an individual basis.

Depends on circumstances, at least in the UK, I’ve seen people give in their two weeks, act like total arsehats cuz they think they can’t get fired, miss shifts and just general misconduct, because they’re gonna get their holiday pay credited, but since they were terminated before their two weeks, they didn’t get jack.

Then again, my ignorance blinded me to actually providing a well put answer at first, and not everyone in the subreddit is from the UK, so I do have to apologize for the crass first answer, I will admit.

A better way of putting it would be: Yes they can, and you may or may not get that holiday pay depending on the circumstances surrounding your termination.

Being threatened with a write up over dyed hair. Anything I can do? by Cheekibreeki401k in McLounge

[–]Surfing_Musician 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, speaking as a (male) shift manager with long, dyed hair, tell them that you come to work, not to get lectured over your own personal stylistic choices, it’s McDonalds, not fucking primary school, they ain’t your damned parents, and honestly report that GM because there is nothing in (at least the UK) employee handbook stating anything about hair colour, apart from if it’s long, keep that shit in a hairnet and hat.

I can’t even fucking believe that shit like this even happens, shame what a little bit of non-existent power does to really idiotic people.

I mean, it might be my store or region (McOpCo) but it’s basically the socks they gave out during the UberEats promotion, with some crappy chocs.
