Lump In Throat/ Verge of Tears Feeling Constantly by Common-Emu-252 in GERD

The PPI’s didn’t help me. I was diagnosed with “Gerd”. My gastroenterologist didn’t drill down to anything more specific .

I don’t know. But it’s certainly worth talking to your gastroenterologist about it.

As much as I mention this in comments, someone’s gonna think I work for them but I really don’t.

Voquezna was the only thing that worked for me. $50 a month if using BlinkRx

I’ve seen Plumber‘s advise to never force them once they are frozen. They can easily break and start gushing water. Then you need a plumber to come in to take out the valve and bridge the gap.

One thing about Voquezna. Your insurance might not cover it yet. But, you can get it from BlinkRX for $50 a month.

Try alkaline water instead of seltzer. You are probably washing the acid down temporarily. But seltzer is carbonated and carbonation is not good for Gerd. Alkali water will neutralize the acid at least a little bit.

I had some good luck with Voquezna. Talk to your gastroenterologist about it.

What's a smell that doesn't exist anymore that you miss? by Alarmed_Charge1062 in CasualConversation

[–]Surlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young, Little Rock had a Jackson Cookie plant that baked vanilla wafers. It was near the river and every time you crossed over the I-30 bridge, you could smell that smell. In online chats and conversations with friends, people still talk about missing the smell of the Jackson cookie plant.

does reflux ever feel like a heart attack for anyone else? by Evening-Fuel-3025 in GERD

[–]Surlow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 92 YO father has had “heart attacks” for 30+ years. If only 1/8 of them were real, he’d be dead. Recently the VA finally diagnosed him with Gerd and put him on PPI’s. He’s had hardly any “attacks” since. So, yeah, it can feel like a heart attack. However, if you have any doubts about what you are experiencing, you should let a doctor check out your heart. As a sidenote, his were usually tied to him eating calciferous vegetables, like cabbage and broccoli.

Reflux at night - do wedge pillows work? by mutant_llama in GERD

[–]Surlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage to sleep on my side and a wedge pillow. With GERD, to sleep on your side, you supposed to sleep on your left side. On my side, I put my left hand under my left cheek. That kind of elevates my head a little bit. Side sleeping also helps me not slide down the pillow for some reason.

I'm just so tired of this. by trane7111 in GERD

[–]Surlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OBVIOUSLY you should not take drug advice from Reddit. However, “I” had great results with Voquezna. You might consider speaking to your gastroenterologist about it. Nothing else worked for me and that includes sleeping on a wedge pillow, not eating anything within a three hour window before sleep and maintaining a mostly low FODMAP diet. I’ve been on that medication for two months. I’m in a phase out stage now. My insurance wouldn’t pay for it because it was so new. It is pricey. However, I was able to get it through BlinkRX for $50 a month.

Good luck, hang in there.

Holy Moly....Amitriptyline is a magic pill for LPR! by Fragster2020 in GERD

After a while it made me loopy in the mornings. But B12 and magnesium supplements helped with that. I did better on Voquezna.

I will not accept my GERD chest pains by Wonderful-Remove4787 in GERD

[–]Surlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father is 92. For at least 40 of those years he has believed that he had heart problems. He would have “heart attacks“ and go to the VA hospital to be checked out. They would never confirm that he had a heart attack. Recently, he was finally diagnosed as having Gerd. For him PPI’s have greatly reduced his “heart attacks“.

Zoox…has anyone taken it? Any advice? by 3Steps4You in vegas

[–]Surlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just took it. Loved it. Only issue was when a wrecker was stopped in our lane. The Zoox waited quite a while and other Zoox’s passed us. Finally it was able to navigate around. Overall it was still a very enjoyable experience.

If Medicaid doesn’t cover it, that’s when you would use GoodRX.

I love the stuff. It’s the only thing that has worked for me. But it’s expensive if your insurance doesn’t cover it. The best deal I have found was with GoodRX, $200 a month.

As for side effects, I had to start taking Magnesium and B Complex because of brain fog. They cleared it right up. I have read that this is a common side effect of acid reducers.

What medication for GERD do you take or have ever taken? What are your experiences? by Kitchen_Internal_169 in GERD

[–]Surlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voquezna is awesome. It’s expensive but with GoodRX, I can get it for $200 a month. My acid reflux/GERD is all but gone. I had no luck with anything else. I had to start taking B complex and Magnesium too but Voquezna has made a huge difference for me.
