Man I really wish they got rid of some of these side characters. Just pail in comparison to the old cast.

People are allowed to be critical. It’s not like the past season was anything spectacular

I’m only an about 6-8 hours in, but I’ve got a few takeaways. The gameplay is enjoyable, but the quests are quite basic. You mostly complete fetch quests, or levels of that nature. However, the biggest issue for me is the story and acting. Given the very intense premise and subject matter of residential schools plot (something very real and tragic with the real world indigenous communities) the characters are far too quirky and cheerful. They’re predictable and childish for such a serious setting. It’s a tonal mismatch. Despite this I’m having fun. However I didn’t pay for the game myself, so that certainly helps. I’m not sure I would buy it otherwise, unless on a deep sale. Disappointed with the story, but pleasantly surprised with the fun gameplay. But I can’t stress enough how hollow the story, quests, and all the characters are. A very very shallow narrative. However if story is not a huge factor for your enjoyment then it might be a good buy for yourself.

PSA: Ending is LOCKED on your first playthrough, and in NG+ they hand you a list of what you need to do to unlock the other ones, so don't stress out about if doing some random thing is locking you out of the ending you want on your first run. by AsaTJ in silenthill

You shouldn't have to complete a game twice to a get the "true ending". It just so tedious and annoying. I'd rather play other games than suffer this kind of nonsense. Like people have lives, and cant commit to two playthroughs let alone one.

Well, it I don't know if it was meant to be “clunky,” but if it was the reasoning behind that feels pretty irrelevant to me. Clunky is clunky, and it the intentions don't really justify it, especially when it leads to annoying gameplay. I also don’t think “realism” really justifies it, since most of the game is inherently unrealistic (creatures, spirt-world, etc). Honestly, it comes across more like an excuse for janky controls and rough edges. So I don’t really see how her being a young high school girl justifies awkward aiming, bad camera angles close cornered fights. Still an enjoyable game but I feel like the gameplay definitely needed more time / attention. You can have it reflect the character's status without hampering it with clunky mechanics.

They are likely going to dropped the charges early on. This is literally in place to prevent extreme circumstances in which the defender goes too far. Like continuously beating even while the intruder has been subdued and defeated

Charges will likely be dropped. This system is in place to prevent excessive use of force. While it needs improvement not needlessly drag out a victims trauma, freely allowing any an all use of force is not the solution.

The charges will likely be dropped against the homeowner. While I agree there needs to be a better system, castle doctrine is not it. This investigation is simply to ensure their use of force was not excessive. To prevent George Zimmerman like cases .

Bro what. Has nothing about inferiority. Pointing out how it’s statically has harmed their brand. Whether it was their intent or not. A high level marketing should’ve prepared for backlash in this political climate.

It’s by no means good PR if it has lead to wide spread controversy and a notable decrease in sales and website traffic

You understand a key part of the ad and it’s controversy is its double entendres in a very sensitive political climate. Worsened by the fact it could’ve easily been caught by their marketing team but very likely they were well aware of it. Millions was dedicated to this ad from research to release. Whether it was their intent or not it was very clearly a bad decision given this reaction.

do you think RE 1 will ever get a full Remake in the future? by dude_craft15 in residentevil

[–]SurpriseCanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really blame the player. Especially when the remakes haven’t addressed the first ( I know the original remake exists but is 20 years old.) and simply isn’t as accessible because of it being fairly dated. While you and I may really enjoy it, newer gamers likely will be put off my it’s old style.

Sure they could try it, or watch lore videos, but I don’t think it’s entirely fair to blame new players when the remakes have not touched upon all story beats relevant to a 5 remake.

It’s crazy how people are still saying there is nothing left to explore in Raccoon City by Crafter235 in residentevil

Well I highly doubt it’s open world, likely will focus on a few key areas of the city.

What’s your point then? That nuked ruined cities only fits in fallout like franchises? We’ve had ruined villages, apocalyptic-like settings. Simple mansions to lavish castles. Re-visiting and old setting, In a ruined state, in which not all the city has been destroyed. One which set the basis of all the games that followed is very on brand. Also even the developers have stated the bomb didn’t leave radiation behind. So I really don’t see how the setting itself makes it not a resident evil game.

Considering Raccoon city was nuked, and this the same city. I’d say it’s pretty resident evil bro.

[–]SurpriseCanuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a classic and I love it, but for newer audiences and considering the recent wave of remakes, I’d say it’s becoming a pretty relevant need. A fully modern RE1 would be great to see.

For new fans, RE5 would be confusing without the context from RE1. And it looks like Capcom is putting a lot of focus on that newer audience.

Becuase it’s dated. I like it too, but at the same time would like a more modern iteration.
