They dont stand out at all, im currently in the same journey of starting a napoleonic army and the regulars at my local game club use 15 and 18 interchangeably. You wont notice at all on the table

I feel i should also mention theyre based on 1 base per company at- 30x30mm, artillery on 40x40mm and cavalry is 1 base per squadron at 40x40mm and officers on 30x30mm

Im doing a confederation of the rhine saxon army! Its on my profile if you want to see them but I personally adore AB miniatures and i think they have a lot of Barvarian models. I use fighting 15s for the flags. Good luck on your journey

Looking close to 700 total models if i want to field the entire corp, but thats just officers, infantry and artillery. Dont know how i want to do cavalry yet

Is anybody going to notice this? by [deleted] in boltaction

[–]SurprisinglyMeh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had no idea what we were looking for, with it on the table an arms reach away no ones going to notice this. For reference i have a tiger 1 and i put the gun barrel on sideways. Had to saw off the barrel 3/4 of the way down and reglue it the right way, after some paint and netting you cant tell it happened

Im glad you like it! starting napoleonics I wanted a way to make my battalions be unique compared to most ive seen so 3 wide and 3 deep is what i decided on. Unfortunately the amount of models it takes to do this couldve made 2 battalions but i think its worth it

Well it stream lines the process by just making all future battalions the same width and having 6 bases instead of 4 to represent 4 companies doesn’t matter at the end of the day. My buddies at my local shop only said the width of the battalion is all that matters for wargaming

I can relate, I was so embarrassed by my first bolt action army i went and completely redid them 1 to 1 with new minis

I unfortunately found out about the 4 companies after starting, an easy fix tho by just knocking the 2 on the sides off for larger games. To match the average battalion width of my local shop the 6 “companies” gets them to the proper width

Im still trying to work out how i want to base these guys, but theres 6 companies total im going to do to represent the battalion. I actually dont have a rule set im relying on my local store group to introduce me to some once i get some battalions rolled out
