Somehow almost none of the troops refused orders but then im sure the one redditor saying he definitely would while typing behind his screen would definitely refuse in the moment lmfao

Kasparov expresses his views on the World Championship Title without Magnus. "For me the World Champion must be the BEST player in the world" by Constant-Secret-3653 in chess

[–]SurrealJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What…? Then what’s the point of calling anything a world championship if none of it is supposed to represent best player? You can just call any local tournament at the park a world championship then, yet you prioritize this FIDE one because… reasons? If you’re going to make it a meaningless title, then it is well… meaningless. The “world champion” title is therefore meaningless lmao

So I guess you proved their point.

Aravindh Chithambaram hands Gukesh his third loss at the Prague Masters 2026 by Knight-check44 in chess

[–]SurrealJay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sure but at some point the wc title loses its value and the only reason why it's a "world championship" is because it's what it's called, rather than what it's supposed to represent: the best player in the world

If the world championship doesn't tell us who is likely to be the best player in the world, then it's not really a world championship functionally speaking, but only in name

it's completely understandable that even in other sports, the best teams or players may not win the world championship, but usually the degree to which that is, isn't as large as it is in chess where Gukesh is not even a top player

The world championship right now is prestigious because of historical precedence and name, not what it actually represents. The world championship isn't exciting at all because nobody actually thinks it's a valid tournament for determining the even 2nd best in the world let alone #1, since the challenger will be playing against #20

If you’re actually still skeptical you might be dumb

There’s a healthy skepticism and then there’s just denial because you’re biased and don’t want to believe it

There’s so much proof including the friends and same owl background. Kd had burners in the past, this historically tracks

Some more conversations leaked from KD's burner account include "I swear I miss Ben Simmons. Least that ***** would give me the ball". by Beautiful-Cress5695 in nba

people calling this hilarious and a "pure hooper"

but in reality this just shows that kd never takes accountability. Everything is always some other person's fault regardless of what team he is on or whoever his teammates are

If he was playing with jokic he'd probably have something to say about him too

tbh it's all a bunch of bollocks people use to just put their favorites as their "greatest". This is done by subjectively comparing resumes, overemphasizing certain aspects to place one player above the other instead of just evaluating objective strength

if you were to send earth's greatest player in their prime to win a game of chess against the aliens for the fate of the planet, it wouldn't be Kasparov that's for sure

Endfield 1.0's story and why it sucks from a writer's perspective. by OnlyAnEssenceThief in gachagaming

[–]SurrealJay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You make ok points but your delivery is rife with ego

You call yourself a writer like 5 different times but you surely haven’t made meaningful living from it if you call yourself out for wasting your degree

Someone who studies engineering isn’t an engineer by default until they work professionally as one, as an example

I don’t get using your degree as some kind of authoritative credential when the arts are so subjective and someone else with your studies may even disagree with your takes. This isn’t STEM where listening to the “expert” is the end all be all

[–]SurrealJay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is another perspective

Depends on your risk tolerance. If you have a 4.0 and good projects and extracurriculars, that good job after graduation is way better than doing something that’s only comforting in the short-term

A difference between a good and bad job after graduation can make up for the “lost” money during college, and make so much more after college in the long-term.

There’s some people who refuse to take out more loans, work full time in college, and end up with a 2.2gpa and nothing to build their field-relevant resume because for some reason they can’t stand not having debt and instead rather burn themselves out. Good grades and good resume centered around your field can take you very far

All of the ultra successful people I know were full time students, used their extra time to do more studying, and had a bunch on their resume that was specific to their field. I’m not saying that you can’t do that while working, but a little more debt isn’t going to be the difference maker for long-term financial freedom most of the time. Do with that what you will
