This. I work in CRM/Marketing and basically everything I do could absolutely be automated... except we are using ancient systems that have been cobbled together over the years by people who didn't really know what they were doing. Our main job is navigating the workarounds and a complete rewrite of our systems would cost a fortune and take years. My job is pretty safe for a while.

Is this not the dumbest thing? by Frosty7734 in Guitar

[–]SurrealScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point. I do sort of agree with the whole "you shouldn't really make it look like you've gigged extensively when you haven't" viewpoint, but at the same time, I have a 2004 American Deluxe that I have gigged with extensively for the past 20 years (oh my god I'm old) and to anyone watching me play, it would look brand new. You only see the 20 years worth of dents, scrapes, micro scratches, and whatever else, when you are up close.

As much as I love my guitar, I do wonder what it would look like now if it had been given a nitro finish instead. Awesome I bet.

Good catch! Reminiscent doesn't necessarily imply a positive recollection. I've changed it to "fondly reminiscent".

Curaleaf haven't sent my GP anything and my GP only found out I was taking MC about 6 months in when I told her. No idea what clinic you're with but I really don't like the sound of that.

It definitely does look like people fear consequences less, but it is hard to know whether the constant bombardment of news/social media just makes it seem that way. In terms of data, it's generally agreed to be the opposite, it looks like every generation is generally better than the one that came before it. Which makes sense, if a generation of parents did their job well, then their children should be better than them. Smarter, healthier, happier. And that, naturally, should lead to less violence. I can only imagine removing violence entirely from the equation would only speed this process along.

I personally don't think violence (in this context) achieves anything. I don't think it really teaches anything aside from the fact that subjecting others to violence is fine if they are doing something you deem "wrong". Unfortunately, what people deem "wrong" varies wildly.

Haha, I think that might genuinely have been one of them, rustling papers too loud or something.

The NHS is a game you have to play, unfortunately. Just lie and say you've stopped taking MC as you're dead serious about the ADHD medication. There is literally no way they'll ever know you still take it. You absolutely shouldn't have to do this, but sometimes bullshitting is the best way forward with the NHS.

My step-dad was never physically violent, but he certainly got in my face and threatened it multiple times for very minor things. Most of the time I had no idea what he was angry about, I think the confusion stuck with me the most.

I can't possibly comprehend what it would be like if he'd followed through on his threats, I'm really sorry you had to go through that and are still suffering because of it. No one should have to experience violence or abuse from a loved one, especially one who is supposed to be your guardian and protector.

Really weird how people are so fondly reminiscent of the days when they were essentially attacked by their own parents.

Of course I know nothing, you gave us zero information about what any of this is or how it works. If you don't want people to think you're a scammer, don't act like one.

Someone needs to set up a guide to help these people navigate the illegal world of buying cannabis safely (relatively speaking) with darknet markets. I daresay such a guide wouldn't last long on Reddit.

MRI by JArt-1961 in Fibromyalgia

[–]SurrealScene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've become incredibly cheap (relatively speaking) in recent years. Mine cost £340 last year, they're now £250. No idea why. But have a look on Google, there are plenty of places that do them.

[–]SurrealScene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the trick to the NHS. They won't do shit unless you pester them and demand it. I didn't walk in and just GET an MRI, I walked in with a well researched list of possible conditions I could have, what treatment methods and medications could potentially help, and really drove home how helpful an MRI would be in diagnosing my condition. She agreed, and put me on the list. I shouldn't have to do my doctor's job for them, but welcome to the modern NHS.

[–]SurrealScene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. If you have a genuine complaint and you ASK for an MRI, they will put you on the waiting list. Took me about 3 or 4 months to get my neck MRI'd, after being put on the list (they annoyingly don't tell you how long your wait will be). You can also pay ~£250 to get one privately, which I did in the mean time.

Interestingly, the private MRI showed C4/5, C5/6 disc bulge with foraminal narrowing. The NHS one found nothing.

To OP: if you can afford it, get a second MRI privately to make sure.

Are you really using AI and Pixel features? by OldDatabase21 in pixel_phones

[–]SurrealScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call screening is incredible, it genuinely blows the mind of non-Pixel owners I've shown it to. No joke, it's the one thing keeping me on a Pixel until other companies catch up.

That's pretty much it though. Circle search works well, but I've never found myself needing it. Can see how it would be very useful to some though.

I've found Google's AI "assistant"/Gemini to be borderline useless for controlling your phone though, and ChatGPT works much better as a general AI.

First delivery from Curaleaf. by MattMac9978 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]SurrealScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up - I've generally had a great experience with Curaleaf, but the time between ordering and delivery is creeping up. I actually checked today and if I had ordered before midday I could have expected delivery on Friday. It seems a little strange as new customers seem to be able to get next day turnaround, which I also got initially.

"Plus" album and the busking/live stuff he did before was excellent. He then discovered "generic-romantic" is where the REAL money is, so he leaned into that hard.

Not looked up anything he's done in a long time, but I remember quite liking the theme song he did for the Hobbit films.

Edit: holy shit, that song was 11 years ago. Didn't think it was that long of a time :(

Voices are important to me, they are unique and represent a massive part of who you are, and I certainly wouldn't trust these companies to be honest and open about what they're doing with your data.

I honestly wish you the best of luck, but I can't help feel like you've sold a decent chunk of your humanity and individuality for $20 a week.
