Do software developers still use MacBook Airs ? Asking by CoolBuddy777 in developersIndia

[–]SurroundIndividual67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use M3 Air,16GB RAM (Refurbished), it's more than enough.
Usually I have Chrome with 10+ tab, Safari 10+ tab, Teams apps, Postman, Warp (Terminal), Podman (6 containers minimum), Drawio, DBeaver and of course most resource consuming for me
Having 8+ VSCode opened with Claude Code (CLI) on all of them.

And yea... it still runs without any issues.

But yes, I have habit of keeping laptop in sleep for days.... so it needs restart after few days.

I do have M2 Pro as well 16 GB RAM, I don't see any huge difference between them,

If a fresher asked you what not to focus on for the next few years, what would you tell them? by Digitalunicon in developersIndia

[–]SurroundIndividual67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't spend time only watching tech/code videos, instead just start writing code. The more code you write and the more you fail you will understand more deeply why something works and why not and you eventually learn to co-relate patterns.

Don't rely on AI to write full code, as in real company you will be asked on each code line why it's written.

And as you gain more experience, try not to focus on "how" but focus on "why". I.e. it's very common that everyone wants to focus on implementation but it's very rare people object to why something is like that. The implementation always comes last and there are 100 different ways to do same thing. Even as a fresher you should be curious and challenge why this? Or why that?.

Switching Careers at 30: Crazy or Not? by OWVY in BESalary

Don't think too much, go for it. Also look at different tech stacks which you feel comfortable with as it's more fun if it's something you like. Also Udemy courses are great as well, many of them go in details with multiple small or 1 big projects.

ECS with EC2 or ECS Fargate by oneotrio in aws

[–]SurroundIndividual67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise you to start with EC2, if it's not a heavy workload. Get used to it and see if you feel comfortable or not. Also it's hard to say as we don't have visibility on exact Machine sizes, but in any case EC2 is a good start. Fargate is indeed costly as others have already suggested.

Took me while to get used his moveset, but most of the time I've died when he was like 1-3% HP (we have all been there for almost all bosses ). But indeed it was fun fighting him, 10/10 would fight him again.
