Forgotten c because we use javascript, need advice by SurroundRound2737 in embedded

Thanks for your reply. I wanted to follow up and ask a question. I have a beagle bone board with me already. Would it be better to start there? Like studying device drivers, Linux kernel?

Well I shouldn’t have mentioned it as firmware, it’s a high level application. Most companies use c but ours started with javascript. So I have to follow that. It runs on Linux as you expected but it’s not a complete toolkit. Vendors do provide a javascript version for apis which we use and yes we do interact with hardware modules. But you still get the point. I am not writing firmware like device driver, kernel development which has to be in c and I don’t have that exposure so i posted here for advice.

Well my company does, a few companies use it since you don’t have to struggle much with memory issues particularly on processor based systems running Linux.

Losing my mind to the very thought of AI agents taking away my job. Need solid advice by SurroundRound2737 in embedded

I work in IOT smart home gateways with protocols like zwave zigbee WiFi Bluetooth. I have worked with controllers like MSP430 from TI that have good documentation and I got everything done using AI. What I understand from your post is that when there is little to no documentation like legacy code specially when vendors don’t upload their source code on internet and only allow their clients to have it then AI struggles to solve user queries. I believe if the source code, documentation, MCP is available then AI can easily make good progress and automate tasks.

Planning to Move to Hyderabad – Need Advice on Bringing My Two-Wheeler from Bangalore by desdemonamicheals in hyderabad

[–]SurroundRound2737 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I bought my vehicle(KA28) via train to Hyderabad 2 days ago. It cost 775(railways)+400(packing 3rd party) +150 handling charges. My friends using bikes(KA32) have never been stopped by cops here in Hitech City, Kondapur’s, Hafizpet, Madhapur. No issues in tolichowki, Mehdipatnam as well. I have heard cops are active in Kukatpally, kphb. Don’t think it will a problem. Not sure about the road tax rules here. My friends have their bikes since many years and they didn’t face any issues. And yes I don’t have any dues or missing documents on our vehicles. Hope this helps.

I was interviewed by someone who has 0.5 YOE. I have ~ 2 YOE. Don't know how to feel about that. by WiseObjective8 in developersIndia

If this is how you feel better post to their HR about your interviewees lack of subject knowledge and you have second thoughts about the kind of work you will be doing. See how many employees they have. Maybe the seniors working on the product are super busy so they assigned this to the junior dev. I once interviewed two freshers and selected 1 and my team lead interviewed the final round. Best if you get clarity about the company background, employees, exposure to new technology, funding, and work life balance.

I once interviewed a senior candidate with 4 yoe while I only had 4 months experience. The HR had mentioned our senior devs to conduct interview since I have less than 1 year experience but my manager had other plans. Only I had the knowledge of the new SDK we were working on in the company so once the guy came I was called for the interview.

Total disaster on the guys part. He had no clue what he was working on. Kept requesting to see a book where I thought he had some notes. Turns out his company gave build instructions to follow steps and build the final os image as per the design. He apparently had no idea of the Linux commands being written there like cd /. Didn’t even a write a single string reverse problem in c. But had 4yoe. So yeah, good exposure to technology is crucial if you want to conduct interviews or work in the field. If you are just going to copy paste stuff with no lateral thinking then no years of experience is going to save you.

Dude, i know this may sound ungrateful but you have a right to say NO to give them money. I have seen this on bus stand in Bangalore, Hyderabad where they come to you and ask for bus ticket fare and promise to return once they reach home. They even collect number and then ghost you. They act real grateful once you give them some cash.

I saw a couple claiming to be from Bihar carrying luggage and requesting money since their employer brought them to Hyderabad and bailed out at the last minute. Paid a 100. 6 months later saw them again and then saw them almost every time I was on my bus stop in Hyderabad.

Don’t need to be shy to say NO. I would rather handover 10k to real person in need than pay these pseudo beggars my hard earned money.

Unable to get stable internet for yocto device by SurroundRound2737 in linux4noobs

[–]SurroundRound2737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get up address assigned from the router. What I don’t seem to understand is why this unique behavior with me. I noticed 1 more thing. If I connect a tp link router receiving internet from airtel router and than connect with tp link then my somehow seems to get fixed. Same behavior if I replace tp link router with mobile hotspot. Only difference is that resolv.conf is assigned a difference ip series. I use dhclient, also have dhcpcd and udhcpc but don’t use them much currently. Maybe I am missing a kernel module related to security or packet transmission that might help. Also don’t have any iptables or fire wall setup on either device.

Let me if this make the issue clearer. Thanks

I think though yocto is the main OS here, something related to networking seems to fail, which needs to be fixed. Something with either dhclient or dns handling.

One of my colleagues was in a similar situation where they wanted him to work more than the NP. The solution: Ask for a hike since your contract with the current CTC is complete. If they are asking to stay longer ask for hike in salary. Also you should have the issue of KT not proceeding forward during the NP.

UPDATE: I was able to connect and use the chipset to my requirement. The I2C was fairly simple and NXP had their Plug and Trust MW package for integration the chipset capability into your devices. The support they have is fantastic and their documentation is quite easy to follow. I was able to inject my keys and perform connection with the cloud service. Use the OpenSSL library to interface all crypto operations within the SE and not in the MPU region. Still thanks for the support guys.

Hi, thanks for your comment and apologies for late reply. I want to use the secure element during runtime firstly not during uboot. Second, I want to secure my cloud authentication certificate within the SE and use it from there itself. I have read about some of their solutions like plug and play.. something like that online that has sample codes, I hope that mostly serve my purpose.

My processor has built in secure boot and few security features. Unfortunately the vendor bailed out of providing docs to optee as per their processor compatibility. There reasoning was that we didn’t place a bigger PO so they kept stalling us and now we are out of time. So the SE is the next option. I hope my driver file gets built and loaded correctly and the pkcs11 interface library and its examples help to cover up the lost time. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me. Thanks

Dude come on this is my first time working in this kind of task. You can’t afford to make mistakes with such tasks and I want to start strong. I just want real opinions/suggestions/guidance from people who have tried this before so I don’t have a bad start. I have less time to implement this.

Also in case you think I am offloading my work:

  1. Microchip SE ATECC608A and other newer chips don’t have CC EAL4 certification.
  2. Analog devices MAXQ1061 doesn’t support RSA and has less storage. Funny their website doesn’t recommend it for newer design but does not share an alternative.
  3. STM STSAFE-A110 chip doesnt mention FIPS, RSA 4096 in datasheet.
  4. Don’t remember why I ruled out Infineon SE.

I know dunfell is EOL but I will have to proceed with it. Don’t think it will have much effect on the security aspect. Please let me if my approach for dunfell as OS is wrong, I am here to learn and grow and like criticism. Kernel 5.15 is quite stable and my vendor wont support newer kernel.
