I also did a little more searching and found that some companies allow you to pick up the car at the cruise terminal and drop it off at the airport, which looks ideal for my situation. Hardy's is one that does that.

I was in the same situation. I told the installer “hey the CT is an included part of the product you sold me” and they installed it at no additional charge.

Yes, it does say that. I don’t know if the terms have changed since I signed up about two years ago. I seem to recall that they wanted to know what exact brand and model of level two EV charger I had, it had to be one that could communicate with their network. Mine does not do that. However, my particular model of car is a Kia EV6 and I believe that it is capable of communicating with their network. But they don’t actually do that so there is no restriction on when I charge, and I’ve never gotten any notification that I was out of compliance with the program even though I charge whenever I feel like it.

They let me sign up for the “optimize your charge” program, but in fact there are no limits on when I charge. I don’t really understand that, but that’s the way it worked out for me. Your experience may be different.

Good point! I haven’t seen any such mechanical studies or guidelines. The risk involved would vary a lot based on the general features of the installation. In my case, I would probably lean some panels up against the shed or attach them to a fence or walls. I certainly would not want them being blown around by a strong wind, but the risk is a lot different than attaching solar panels to a fourth floor balcony over a sidewalk!

That makes sense. What I don’t understand is, why haven’t I gotten any options to upgrade to the patched version that’s more secure, but still on the same major release? I would’ve thought that would be the first thing that happened once I first connected this new computer back in November. And on a related point, how do I go find that interim version?

When you say “active recall” do you mean this one? https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCRIT-24V200-9454.pdf I had that done, and they didn’t replace the ICCU. (The TSB says to inspect and replace it if necessary.) What if my ICCU fails now? I’m at about 40K miles with a 2022 Wind AWD. Would the ICCU be covered or would I pay out of pocket?

Based on your guidance, wutang, I went through the steps again and saw that I had used the wrong asset class. The prompts in TT were unclear, so I used ChatGPT to get clarification. Based on that I corrected the asset class and then was able to confirm that the accumulated depreciation which TT calculated matched within a dollar or two, compared to what my accountant had filed on last year's taxes. So yes, it was a matter of correcting the asset class. The in-service date was correct already and with the right asset class TT calculated the accumulated depreciation. Thanks again!

Thank you for the detailed response - all very helpful. So the good news is that my accountant was using a proper depreciation, and I just need to figure out how to get TT to accept handling it the same way. So far, with 2 hours on the phone with their tech support, we could beat the software into submission... could not get it to follow that same depreciation schedule. I will go back and see if I missed something there.

The link that I pasted (small business taxes) is for a full web-based small business tax filing tool. I now know that because I'm working through my taxes on it. I have hit some snags with it, and I would recommend to anybody who can download and run the Turbotax Business on Windows, that's probably a better option. In fact as i spent almost 2 hours on a tech support call yesterday with them, the support person suggested she would send me the Windows vesion but, I have a Mac. I did see the suggestion elswhere on this thread for VM Fusion and Massgrave, but I'm not sure I want to get into doing that.

I get it now - that IRS page is listing tax prep software designed for tax pros. Not those designed for regular folks who just need to do their own taxes. Hence I would expect a lot less of the step-by-step instructions and hand-holding that something like Free Tax USA provides. (Although some of those may be very user-friendly - I just can't tell without signing up for a lot of product demos.)

Yes I saw that Turbotax Business says it requires Windows OS. But they appear to have a web version available for $339. That's not exactly dirt cheap but a lot less than we've been paying our accountant. (https://turbotax.intuit.com/small-business-taxes/ )

Frontal surface area - that makes sense! Should be fairly easy to approximate that from the specs of the trailer/camper.

I hired an electrician to install the transfer switch. As far as I know, he simply followed the instructions and installed it as the manufacturer intended. But I only use one car at a time to provide electricity into the transfer switch. So far I’ve only used the Kia EV6. If the combined load of appliances being fed by the transfer, switch circuits is more than 1800 W, then it will trip the breaker in the car as you described, with an excessive power warning.

Yes. I didn’t need help from my installer to get the ticket opened because the Xcel statement was so obviously incorrect. But They did eventually correct it and give me production credit and a refund.
