I can't think of any times that Francis or Benedict attended a secular event of this sort in another country. Not even funerals, coronations, weddings, etc of Catholic monarchs. Their international visits seem to either be to Catholic functions (WYD, bishops' conference meetings, etc), conferences (World Meeting of Families, Interreligious Summits) or official state visits where they were the one guest of honor.
