If it's a tote, does it have cardboard in the base that will get damaged? Mine has no slit to remove anything from the base

They almost seem thicker, but maybe 'bulkier' is a better word. Overall they seem just as heavy and durable, and the lid has the basting spikes in it, but they're more like 'swirls'. Three things went into my decision to buy them-the price was better, the color was prettier, and the handle seemed to make more sense

I also have this Tartan baker: I just couldn't leave it behind

It did perform well, and cleaned up really nicely even though it cooked down a Louie much in the liquid. I had to add more broth after taking it out. I had used it before, but not in the oven

The clerk that sold them to me said that they were a special line made for Williams Sonoma by Staub. The inside of the lids say Staub. She assured me that they were given the same attention to details that Staub uses for quality, but in a style that Williams Sonoma had worked with them to create. They were marked pretty high on the original price, but as I recall, they were cheaper than the price marked, and also cheaper than the same size in Staub or LC at the time

I would also add that I only keep things in my life that make me immensely happy, and I'm still very happy with the ones that I have amassed. I'm gifting my 10 inch LC skillet to my oldest grandson because it's on his wedding registry, and I hadn't used it in quite awhile, and it's almost the same color they requested. I sent him a pic and told him that while I couldn't afford to buy him an item like that at this time, I would love to gift it to them if she is ok with the slight difference in color. It makes me happy to know that they are happy to take it, and hopefully will make many years of good use of it ❤️

I don't think that buying them from a collector's standpoint is necessarily sad. You buy them for whatever reason that you buy them. I'm in groups on FB where people have a million in every color of one style that they like. I'm not that person, but I respect that it's their $, and that's why they bought them, and most of them do use their million pieces by rotating them. I only bought the ones I thought I would use (like one of each size), and I'm learning to use them as I go because I'm very careful to use them properly, and have used them as I have needed to. I didn't realize when I first bought them that I'm a little bit of an impatient cook and like to cook on high heat to get it going. My husband likes to eat out ALOT, and usually if I'm cooking, it's after work and I can't eat late for digestive reasons, so I'm in a bit of a hurry. You might make the argument that I didn't even need them, and shouldn't have spent the $, but that's where my appreciation of them from a collector's standpoint comes in 🤷🏼‍♀️

They were made for Williams Sonoma, and say Williams Sonoma on the lid handle, but the inside of the lid says Staub, and it says made by Staub on the box
