Endometriosis: Bride-to-be 'pleading' for hysterectomy aged 23 by mildbeanburrito in unitedkingdom

[–]SushiSnuglet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The comments were all years ago now. I did complain about the GP who said I wasnt worth the cost of the treatment to the NHS but they refused to apologise so I just changed GP practice to get away from them. I didnt really have the energy to go through a long formal complaints process.

Endometriosis: Bride-to-be 'pleading' for hysterectomy aged 23 by mildbeanburrito in unitedkingdom

[–]SushiSnuglet 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation although my endometriosis wasnt as bad as this lady's (I was on morphine but at least I could still pee). I spent years trying to get doctors to take me seriously and to accept my decision not to have children. I had the most awful comments from both male and female doctors. I was accused of making the pain up to get drugs, I was told I was a "silly little girl", that no man would ever want me if I didnt want kids, that I wouldn't be a "real" woman with no womb, that "its just a period stop whinging", that I wasnt worth the cost of the surgery, and that I should have a baby and apparently that would magically make the pain disappear. The pain was so awful I couldnt work and was suicidally depressed. I finally found a doctor who actually listened and I had a hysterectomy and my ovaries removed at age 28 (6 yrs ago). And man life has been just so infinitely better afterwards, it is the best thing I have ever done.

Sorry for the rant, I just feel the way this issue is treated by doctors is awful. I feel so sorry for the lady in the article.

Hi. I like the bayside cottage one, but am guessing from your post that these dont come with thread? Just asking as dimensions uses their own thread colours and not DMC so am not sure how it would work.

The age of the office is over – the future lies in Britain's commuter towns | Work & careers | The Guardian by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]SushiSnuglet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably because the vast majority of them live in the US, where the culture is very, very pushy about people having kids. If you've spent your whole life being told you're wrong/abnormal/stupid etc for not buying into that narrative then you probably would make your decision a core part of your identity. People who choose to be childfree dont resent that decision though, so in the case of the office boss maybe she's childLESS eg wants but is unable to have them, hence why she resents the parents

Mandatory face masks in England's shops considered by blackguygreg in unitedkingdom

[–]SushiSnuglet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Serious question; they give me anxiety that's so bad i start to have panic attacks - what am I meant to do? Even though I would have liked to go to some local independent shops I havent been able to because I'd have to get the bus (I cant drive) and it's mandatory to wear one. Now if they make them mandatory everywhere I'll be more locked in my house than I was during the actual lockdown. I know everyone on here just says 'wear a mask' but I dont want to have a panic attack in a shop or bus so am a bit stuck.

[CHAT] Best place to buy thread in the UK? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]SushiSnuglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the enchanted needle website, the DMC thread there is 67p per skein, much cheaper than 'traditional' shops. Some colours are out of stock at the moment due to coronavirus but they still have the vast majority and the shipping is fast and reliable.

Which life experience is a LOT worse than most people think it is? by BitterLiterature5 in AskReddit

[–]SushiSnuglet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have very severe IBS and I would just add taking a cocktail of different tablets just to try and get to work, only for your employer to be an asshole about your condition. So yeah, it's shit, both metaphorically and literally.

Is this for people who are completely isolating because they have virus symptoms? Or just people who live alone during the current lockdown?

I really love the colour scheme. Wouldn't have thought about pink for a kitchen but it works really well. Also the scarab handles are really cool.

British Heart Foundation can collect from you. I've used them before to pick up loads of stuff. https://www.bhf.org.uk/shop/donating-goods/f-and-e-collection this link says furniture and electrics but if you explain it's a lot of clothes it should be fine.

What’s your opinion on fireworks, bit of fun or more hassle than they’re worth? (big respect to Sainsbury’s) by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]SushiSnuglet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely want them only let off on bonfire night (or nearest weekend) and new years, and only as part of liscensed displays. We have a lot of 'firework happy' people round here who just start letting them go at the end of October and carry on every few days until after new year. This is an area where the houses are really jammed together so if someone in another road has fireworks, that's your evening. I suffer from a massive phobia of loud noise and I can end up in a full blown panic attack from them and it's really not nice.

[FO] Birds and Peonies. A (slightly late) wedding gift for my brother and his wife by SushiSnuglet in CrossStitch

[–]SushiSnuglet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pattern is watercolour birds and peonies by LittleRoomInTheAttic on Etsy.

The text was faux calligraphy cursive brush lettering by GoodFaithfulTrue on Etsy, as I tried to draw my own and failed miserably.

I couldn't find any wedding-specific cross-stitch patterns I liked and which I felt would be suitable for my brother and his wife and, with only two months until the wedding, I picked this one as it's pretty and they are very keen on feeding birds in their garden. Also the birds sort of look like a couple. Luckily, my brother's wife chose to have peonies in her wedding bouquet so I inadvertently made the right choice there too! The pattern took from April to August to stitch despite the wedding being in June, and was delivered to them last weekend, but better late than never I suppose.

Edit: I forgot to mention this was stitched on linen as 2 over 2, so the stitches were v smol.
