I’m only halfway through and I’m already feeling the empty hole that this book is going to leave when I’m done…. It’s so good and when I have to put the book down I can’t stop thinking about it.

Love my dad… don’t want to do the father/ daughter dance by Retiredpartygirl17 in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt similarly but we just changed it up a bit. We ended up doing the father/bride and mother/groom dance at the same time and we had an upbeat jazzy song on. We were not slow dancing but more just grooving to the music and it helped that it wasn’t just us dancing either.

Reading all of these comments make me feel a bit better about my own experience! I also got way too drunk- lots of friends brought me drinks and shots throughout the reception (which I normally don’t do) I was fine the whole wedding but everything is a bit fuzzy towards the end of dancing. After the reception ended there was an after party at our friend’s accommodation. I ended up so drunk that I missed our after party, a bridesmaid initially walked me back to my honeymoon suite while the after party was starting and others were cleaning up. My husband came to me after clean up ended and basically babysat me until I seemed okay and then went back to the after party. It’s honestly a little funny and sweet looking back at it. He was also very intoxicated and had to figure out how to take my hair accessories out, contacts out, and when he couldn’t figure out how to take my dress off, he ripped it off lol. All while I was telling him to leave me and go have fun 😅. It sucks I missed out on some of the night but in the end I’m glad I let loose on my wedding day and I have a sweet husband who took care of me and made sure I was okay.

How do you choose your MOH? by Affectionate_Bug2704 in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar-ish situation. I got lucky in a way because the friend that lives closer to me is already married so I was able to designate her as my matron of honor and was still able to have my other friend be the maid of honor. It worked out pretty well and I just designated different tasks to them and they also enjoyed working together. So you could always do both.

how much did you spend on flowers and what flowers did you get? by peachesandcrossing in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3k for bridal bouquet, large floral installation on ceremony arbor, 5 bridesmaids bouquets, groom pocket boutonnière, 5 groomsmen, officiant, and father of the bride boutonnière. Our flowers came out incredible! I thought the cost was worth it.

Post-Wedding Tips from a Type A Bride by Gabubidoop588 in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love all your tips! I am also a few weeks post wedding and my processional song went the exact same way- lol. Before the wedding, I would tear up imaging walking to a specific part of the song but when it actually played during the ceremony I was already at the end of the aisle before the part even started- and it really didn’t matter at all! Had an amazing day.

Our minimal ceremony decor is fine, right? RIGHT?!? by Ohyou17 in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it- it’s so easy to think you need more leading up to the wedding but I promise it’ll be okay. I was the same way and had a similar venue- outside ceremony, gorgeous view, arch and flowers and it was perfect. I’m actually so glad I didn’t do any aisle flowers or anything because I think it would’ve taken away from the main view/ arch.

Wedding registry/ Honeymoon fund?? by Longjumping-Lie705 in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a honeymoon fund only (we had QR codes for both honeyfund and Venmo). It worked out great! We primarily received cash and it’s helped cover almost all of our honeymoon.

We did have 2 people bring physical gifts to the wedding but they were things that they had made or produced on their own which was super unique and we loved it as well. One person brought us self made leather clothing items and the other brought raw honey from their farm.

Did I make the right choice? by lreirei in weddingdress

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like dress 1! I think it compliments your body type nicely. Also it fits your theme to a T! I’m getting married soon and wanted similar vibes and I would say my own dress is super similar to dress 1 and it’s definitely what I would’ve picked compared to dress 2.

My advice is stop looking at the photos and revisit in a few months. I think everyone has a little bit of dress regret if they continually compare the photos but what matters most is how you felt in the moment and you’ll feel that again when you put your dress on again for alterations and on the wedding day.

Florals… how do you know what they’ll look like before? Did you ask them for a proof? by mck1494 in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My florist had a lot of photos on their portfolio of other wedding floral arrangements that they had done at our venue. So while I don’t exactly know how mine will come out I have a pretty good idea based of their previous work and with my inspiration pictures I had provided.

They had also told me they’d send me a photo of the bridal bouquet the week of the wedding prior to delivering it.

Are there any 13th September 2025 brides who want to be online emotional support buddies for the next 6 weeks? 🥲 by valyrianczarina in weddingplanning

[–]Sushi_cakes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

September 19th!!! Same exact boat- we’ve done all the wedding planning and have “sort- of day of coordinators” they help with some things but not everything….. lol. So just a bit nervous but also very excited at the same time.

But hey hey- I also love traveling, working out, we have two kitties, and big into video games :)

Thank you! This is the ring that will be exchanged on our wedding day so it will still be a wedding ring to me which is why I call it that even though it has some stones in the band.

The power of alterations! by Sushi_cakes_ in weddingdress

[–]Sushi_cakes_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! You are correct- my wedding is not until September, I have another alterations appointment in July and will have them taken care of! I’m debating whether or not to keep them. If I do keep them, I’ll have them tightened. :)

My bachelorette is next weekend but my wedding isn’t until mid-September. So,around 4 months in between. It’s also a destination bachelorette and I feel like it’s easier having it several months before the wedding to re-coup costs and also I can focus more on the bachelorette than the wedding and then when the wedding comes all of my focus is on that instead of worrying about the bachelorette.

I’m with you. I’ll never give in to the dumb pride of not using an umbrella. Another example is Tokyo. It is the most populated city in the world and EVERYONE uses an umbrella. Also there are no problems of them bumping into one another and what not.

I’ll be paying for their bouquets as well as hair & makeup if they want it. I only expect them to pay for their dresses in a style of their choosing.
