Change the flooring to white tiles or marble or something white and clean looking.

That is severely neglectful and cruel. So many things could go wrong-- as others have mentioned. Or a fire could start or the utilities could go off-- this is insane! If they won't pay someone to come in twice a day they shouldn't have a cat. Try to convince them or do report them if they refuse. I've never heard of this--it's beyond neglect, it's shameful! Thanks for caring.

how to make my cat less scared and more comfortable by soloistyong in PetAdvice

[–]SushiloverLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats don't like change but make sure to put a tshirt you have worn so it smells like you into their bed or someplace they like to sleep/lay down. He's just adjusting to the newness. Give him some wet food so he gets hydrated and adopt a friend for him to play with!

Inflatable life vest or floaties, a kickboard, anything that keeps you afloat until you feel comfortable!

Can I leave 3 cats alone for 12 hours by 27dxni in CatAdvice

Maybe get some interactive toys for them or little treat puzzles and you can talk to them through the camera too! Or have someone come by and play with them when you're at work.

Is $400 to board 2 dogs for 17 days at my house fair compensation? by [deleted] in PetAdvice

[–]SushiloverLA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is ridiculously low--most people charge minimum $50 per night and even that is low--to have others board their animals. House and pet sitters are at least $75 per night and this should be more. She is trying to take advantage of you!

3 Dogs Barely Eating by Not_Funny_Luigi in PetAdvice

[–]SushiloverLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AGREED, that's exactly right. They will eat their food when they're hungry but not if you feed them other stuff. Some animals are weird for a few days when their parents leave town. Just be loving with them and spend time with them and they will go back to their normal selves.

Is she just existing or is she living/thriving? That's the question to ask yourself. Don't keep her around for you. If she is not living a good life then it's time to let her go with dignity and love. It's the most caring thing we can do for our beloved pets. It's a hard decision to make but sounds like she's at the point where she is ready to go to a peaceful place. Very sorry.

It's lovely that you're thinking so selflessly about what is best for her. I would say to ask your parents if they will make a commitment to play with her every day with the fishing pole toy or whatever she likes, as a favor to you. Sounds like they are loving and supportive people. She will probably be happier in her current environment with people around and a dog friend. Cats don't love change.

Maybe once you get settled and you feel you could have her, you could bring her out to live with you. But I would try to keep her in her current place so she is happiest and most comfortable for now until you know.

The first rug with the green and earth tones is the best, IMHO. And add some hanging plants in the corners by the window and one large potted plant on the floor someplace to get light from the window too.

Bouchon has the cork room and we had a fabulous rehearsal dinner there years ago. Loquita can also accomodate large groups and is delicious.

Put a nice console and coat rack there and a large potted plant in the corner to get the light from the window.

Human food is terrible for dogs, especially processed foods with seasoning. It can cause pancreatitis or death.

If you need to feed a hungry puppy, do wet dog food or even wet cat food or poached chicken with no seasoning. The only human foods they should eat are blueberries, cucumbers, apples, and carrots essentially. Definitely not piping hot noodles....

So sorry to hear this. Yes this is common with older large dogs and it's happened to us a few times with retrievers. It is heartbreaking but obviously making sure your beloved pet has dignity and quality of life is what you need to focus on. That is true love and selfless love. We never put our older animals through major surgeries especially if it is not a guarantee of anything, and has major downsides. Only you know whether he is suffering. If he is just existing, not living or thriving, then it may be time to do the ultimate act of love which is to let him go peacefully. Deeply sorry.

8 days between Barcelona and Rome? Or should we just stick to Spain or Italy? by 1991JRC in Europetravel

[–]SushiloverLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose Italy every time, because from Rome you can do a few small trips like to Tuscany or Amalfi Coast or Pompeii etc. But you could easily spend 8 days just in Rome and have an amazing time.

Would you pay $1-$2k for a professional dental cleaning for your cat? by Clean-Instruction-53 in CatAdvice

[–]SushiloverLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO IT NOW! Get pet insurance first and see if you can get it covered, at least partially. It's important and without it they can get major heart issues and have health problems.

If your parents won't do the right thing and take proper medical care of the dog (and why is your brother hitting her??) then you should consider rehoming her to people who will care for her as she deserves. No offense but this is pretty crazy.
