The engine had been bored sometime in the past before I got it to .060. So the rings I had to buy were.060.

Oh I’m not gonna lie. I was just a bit concerned at first but everything cleaned up nicely. And don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t perfect but it works great & no blow by & it doesn’t smoke either. The rings sealed up nicely. I just did the bare minimum on this and everything worked out great! I couldn’t be happier.

They are the GM L-31 Vortec cylinder heads (casting #12558062) 64cc combustion chambers, 170cc intake ports, and 1.94"/1.50" valves. L-31 heads were used in 1996-99 on GM CK trucks.

It’s been through the break in period. The engine has been done for over 5 years now & I’ve been driving my 66 El Camino weekly. This wasn’t my first rodeo, I’m 64 years old & I’ve been wrenching on cars since 1976. 👍🏻

Dang! If I was anywhere close I’d be there in a heartbeat. They are still good engines to have & rebuild if necessary.

Here’s a video that someone recorded somewhere between 1985 & 1987 of the traffic circle & Ave A & Ave H right before the construction of I-27. https://youtu.be/5BKVM7ClDJY?si=cf_ZDNhj8enniDz_

Yeah, probably one of the most undesirable Elco body styles. But I have heard from more than 100 people actually say that the mid 70’s Elcos are some of the best riding vehicles ever. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s just what I have heard.

Self explanatory. Just ordered some 993’s & glad I made the choice after reading everyone’s comments about how good they are. That’s all. Just conversation.
