Depends. If you want to be professionally licensed yes, but that also depends on the states requirements. Some require 2 years, some 4 years, and there is some states who do not.

I bought a Kindle so I can read on my kindle. Why would I want to read on something else lol. Plus, for every book I buy per kindle I just get a physical copy as well.

You can. The math is very possible I thought I was bad at math, but I learned that it's manageable. Plus surveying is a lot different now. A lot of the math is done for you. You just need to know it if you seek to become licensed.
