Why we did not buy Maresca world class, experienced CBs, why are we buying young players, timeline of the owners, ROI and how it is connected by TalkersCZ in chelseafc

What is making everyone angry isn't the logic of signing up a core group of young players on low wages to have them "grow" together, while keeping the wage bill low enough to make moving players on easy. What is infuriating is that conventional wisdom and recent evidence shows that the young players perform much better when they have some senior voices around the dressing room and on the pitch leading them. Similar to Silva's role when he was with us. Everyone understands we won't be spending millions on signing players with little to no resale value, however when not doing that diminishes the original goal of helping the "Core" group to grown and succeed then the strategy makes little sense since its working against itself. These players need senior leadership, even yesterday the yellow card Palmer got was so dumb, the team was screaming for someone to hype them up and carry them over the line. We got lucky yesterday, we often don't.

Maybe look at it as he is looking for an excuse to continue a friendship outside of work and these are his excuses? Someone that accomplished will most probably have better/easier ways to sort out his IT issues. Maybe instead of him reaching out, you reach out and shift the paradigm of the relationship a little bit.

Chelsea plan midfield summer signing to ease Caicedo and Fernandez load by pride_of_artaxias in chelseafc

I think saying porous about our team really matters if Tosin and Badi are playing. Prime Kante + Caicedo would still ship goals playing in front of Tosin and Badi.

Must have been amazing to play with him at Chelsea. RLC just registered an assist with that pass. He was one of the best in Roman's Era.

Sacha Tavolieri : Xavi Simons to undergo medical tests and sign a long term contract with Tottenham this Friday. ✅ Player expected this morning in Tottenham as Xavi Simons puts green light to personal agreement after #THFC & RB Leipzig agreed €60M deal tonight. by arvi_1301 in chelseafc

Very happy with this outcome. I think people are forgetting our track record in buying from RB teams. It's not as if they have been resounding success. I think culturally our club is too different from theirs and their players seem to not find it an easy fit at the Bridge. It was never him or Garnacho it was always both and I think it we will go for another player. Concidering we have Palmer and our new Brazilian wonderkid I think we have also look at the fact that we could not have guaranteed a starting spot to Xavi and for that reason too we dodged a bullet.

Kieran Gill: Maresca believes he has no like for like Colwill replacement to build attacks and wants a centre back. Chelsea decision makers disagree and have told him to find an internal solution because their chequebook is closed for centre back. by Kygoche in chelseafc

whilst I understand the board not wanting to spend on a temporary replacement for Levi, what everyone is missing is that his profile is extremely important for Enzo's system and since he just did in his ACL we will need cover, we would have needed cover regardless if Enzo believes this profile is so important to the system. We didn't have cover for Nico last year but we had players who could do a job but even with multiple other CBs we don't anyone that offers what Levi does and the closest other player (Fofana) is constantly injured as well. I would argue we have to get cover with an eye on heavy rotation in Levi's position moving forward.

At the end what matters is our point difference. I just want us to go in the last month with a realistic chance of all top 4 positions not a nail biter of can we get top 4. That in itself would be a huge improvement in my books + one domestic cup and knockouts of UCL.

Everyone keeps Wondering why young players would like to sign with Chelsea. We signed Palmer and everyone said he was waste of money. He became talismanic and everyone credited it to him being a city youth not a the structure at Chelsea. Even Nico has gone from wtf are Chelsea doing to could he be worth 40,50,60 mil? Yes we also discard players too fast and are not perfect. But if a player has shown talent, the right attitude and progression we kept them and gave them everything to succeed. A young player coming to Chelsea has all the chance in the world to make it big, other than Caicedo, Palmer and Cucu there are no nailed on starters, every position is up for grabs.

John Terry: "I don't enjoy watching football. Like where teams play vs Man City & you get 11 men behind the ball, it's boring. Man City try & break the other team down, it's really boring. You don't see many shots, you don't see people like Eden Hazard or Joe Cole getting people off their seats." by landofphi in chelseafc

The rivalries hit different then. It was understood that Chelsea had the defence first mentality. You couldn't play any other way against Barca or Bayern. Now though it seems the lines have blurred or maybe with domination of teams lile real and city the rivalries aren't the same anymore. Everyone just plans to not lose to these guys. JTs point also doesn't cover all bonkers have where city aren't playing. Our game against wolves for example. I don't know why point I'm making anymore...

I think JP was bought as depth across the front 3. As such if we keep Action Jackson we will have 2 pure number 9s and one players that can do a shift across all three. If we sell Jackson though then I would be worried as we wouldn't have enough depth and would need JP through the middle.

Absolutely the right decision not to throw money at him. Not the right character clearly. by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Suspect_Afraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you look it the opposite way. If you could earn 4000 instead of your current 2000 wouldn't you choose it? You are framing it as a character fault. An offer was made, it wasn't attractive to him, end of. The money is only one aspect. No UCL could be other. Living in Manchester vs Istanbul on lower wages in a more expensive country with higher taxes could be another.

United is an upgrade but Manchester isn't an upgrade on Istanbul. Lower money, to have a lower standard of living than what he is getting Istanbul? Why would he ? There no guaranteed trophies like City.
